Reporting to the VP of Design, the Patternmaker is responsible for creating factory patterns and silhouettes that reflect the design aesthetic and support innovation, new concepts, proportion, and design details. The Patternmaker collaborates with the Design team to obtain direction on desired design aesthetic and fit intent and is responsible for drafting patterns or draping these silhouettes. The Patternmaker must perfectly translate the ideas of the designer into a reliable and repeatable pattern that can be sent to manufacturers. They will need to execute to the brand standard to ensure consistency in fit, construction and quality and will be required to study blueprints and design models, create paper templates, and design the final pattern for mass production.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Responsible for initial # set up with design
- Create 1st through production patterns quickly
- Able to grade patterns when needed
- Communicate fit comments to factory
- Interact through technical process with Design team
- Conduct wash tests for garment dye or fabric test
- Create tech packs with design for costing and production
- Send samples, specifications, patterns and sewing instructions to factories
- Partner with design to assess costs of garment
- Manage workflow and ensure meeting deadlines are met
- Assist sewing room with needs or questions
- Partner with sewers to ensure all construction of garments are accurate.
- Take on additional task and projects as needed
- Advise Manager of potential issues for immediate resolution
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- 5+ Years of Experience in a Patternmaker Role
- Girls/Women's knits and woven experience required
- Able to conduct fittings and follow with corrections
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, will need to provide comments to factory explained in detail
- Proactive, organized, team player a must
- Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe Illustrator
- Complete knowledge of garment construction
