The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing payroll procedures, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and payroll audits. The Payroll Manager will supervise the payroll team and manage all processes relating to time and attendance and payroll systems. The position requires extensive knowledge in payroll regulations and strong acumen in payroll software systems, preferably with TRESS or any related payroll systems, along with excellent organizational and leadership skills.
Overall, the Payroll Manager oversees the Mexico payroll process. This includes ensuring that all employees are paid correctly and on time while handling government statutory remittances, payroll taxes, and other related tasks. Must be well-versed in payroll audits and payroll regulatory requirements related to payroll management.
Responsibilities: Manage employees' salaries by processing payroll data accurately on a weekly basis.Lead and coordinate the department's activities involved in payroll calculation and payment.Ensure the payroll system complies with the company's policies and legal and fiscal requirements.Remit all statutory deductions by liaising with the relevant government agencies for reporting requirements.Ensure the accuracy of payroll data by verifying employee information, hours worked, and other relevant data.Support all SOX and regional audits to ensure regulatory compliance.Maintain accurate pre- and post-payroll processing records by developing a mechanism for tracking payroll transactions and employee information.Resolve employee inquiries by tracking and responding to all received inquiries within specified time frames.Prepare reports by analyzing payroll input and output files.Maintain accurate payroll records by filing all transactions electronically.Create recoverable files of payroll data by backing up files after payroll processing.Maintain auditable files by providing records and all necessary documentation for internal and external payroll audits.Update the payroll software by checking for updates from the payroll software vendor (currently TRESS payroll software).Remit taxes to the relevant authorities by deducting correct taxes from each employee's pay.Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time by supervising the payroll team.Supervise all payroll data integrations by working closely with location HR, Finance, and IT.Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or equivalent.8+ years of experience in payroll processing at the manager level.Strong knowledge of Mexico statutory government agencies and tax compliance regulations such as IMSS, INFONAVIT, FONACOT, SUA.Strong verbal and written English skills required.Strong background and ability to handle highly confidential and personal information.Proficiency in one or more payroll software tools such as TRESS, Excel, and SAP.Detail and process-oriented skills.Ability to work on payroll projects and/or tasks that require strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams or cross-country interactions.Strong interpersonal skills and experience handling pay-related queries raised by employees.
