**Job Overview**:
The Payroll Specialist applies their conceptual knowledge of payroll and, with a moderate level of guidance and direction from colleagues and leadership, is responsible for solving a range of straightforward payroll problems. They will be responsible for analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures and building knowledge of the company, processes, and customers. The Payroll Specialist understands critical business drivers and applies this knowledge to solve problems in straightforward situations by analyzing possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.
**Key Tasks and Responsibilities**:
- Execute assigned end to end Payroll activities, including the processing of payroll, employee and statutory payments, payroll-related accounting, reporting, and compliance
- Understand the usage of the applicable payroll information system and can properly maintain and calculate payroll-related information
- Ensure the timely and accurate receipt of the information required to calculate payroll and payment values
- Calculate and review payroll information, including regular wages, overtime, special pay, taxes, and benefits deductions; ensures the accuracy and authenticity of the resultant payments
- Record necessary accounting information into the accounting records and reconciles all related accruals, asset, liability, and expense accounts
- Ensure compliance with all internal controls and procedures
- Assist with departmental tasks as may be assigned on an Ad Hoc basis
**Essential Qualifications and Education**:
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field
- Minimum 8 years of work experience in payroll
- Knowledge of payroll systems is essential
- Understanding of payroll regulations
- Strong numerical aptitude to support accurate calculation and processing of payroll data
- Strong attention to detail
- Efficient time management capabilities
- Effective communication skills and the ability to professionally interface with employees, management, and others regarding payroll inquiries
- Ability to handle sensitive employee data with a high level of confidentiality
- Problem-solving skills
