Ensures timely and uninterrupted material flow to the manufacturing facilities and manages inventory obsolescence caused by changes in requirements, suppliers, or design.
- Primary contact to suppliers for material demand flow requirements and verification of performance.
- Provide guidance to suppliers on the interpretation and use of MRP / Supplier Portal reports.
- Communicates with suppliers to mitigate supply issues caused by supplier constraints in terms of people, buildings, tooling and equipment.
- Partners with suppliers on measurable improvements in the overall cost of quality and delivery.
- Recommends and assists with the implementation of system enhancements to improve communication with suppliers.
- Some management support required for contractual and new part sourcing issues.
- Moderate scope/complexity of commodities managed at this level (communication of material requirements and changes, expediting, proactive process improvements, some project activity).
- Identify and alleviate supply interruptions through daily meetings with plant schedulers and Master Scheduler.
- Determine most cost effective mode of transportation which meets manufacturing schedules.
- Track and obtain target inventory levels and control cost of freight and obsolescence.
- Works with Engineering to manage bill of material affectivity dates to ensure depletion of inventory as well as coordinating supplier transitions to new components.
- Creates and maintains system attributes for new components in order to drive accurate demand through MRP.
