**Position Overview**
The Plant Controller is a business partner working with the plant, operations, and financial management to effectively manage and control the plant's financial responsibilities. The Plant Controller manages the plant cost statements, capital and inventory reconciliations, and accountability reporting including budget, forecasts, and variance analysis. This role will be key in identifying plant performance improvement opportunities and evaluating the return on capital purchases while protecting the company assets. This role may supervise analysts or other financial staff as necessary.
**What you'll do**
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and identify and correct weaknesses
- Ensure that work is performed in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and those established by the company
- Enforce corporate policies and procedures
- Assist external and internal auditors by providing clear supporting explanations and documents
- Assist with the planning and execution of physical inventories including analysis and reporting of results
- Perform month-end close activities including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and reporting
- Communicate monthly reports of results, periodic forecasts, and annual plant operating plan/budget (includes generation of reports as necessary)
- Prepare templates and consolidate monthly analyses and reports for actual vs budget/prior year results and variance analysis
- Calculate the annual standard cost for products produced in the plant
**Who you are**
- Expert knowledge of the principles of Cost Accounting for a manufacturing facility
- Expert knowledge of all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Expert knowledge of the principles of budgeting and financial forecasting
- Expert knowledge of computer use and software such as Excel and PowerPoint
- Expert knowledge of the use of algebraic equation writing utilizing Excel worksheets
- Solid knowledge of conducting business for a company that operates within a manufacturing and fabrication business environment
- Solid knowledge of federal and state Department of Labor Wage and Hour Laws for payroll processing
- Solid knowledge of SAP and the extrapolation of data for Accounting/Finance purposes
- Solid knowledge of communication to explain simple and complex concepts in either written or verbal form
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships
