The purpose of the EV's program is to work on three projects:The biological function and molecular mechanism of RNA-binding proteins in cardiomyocyte proliferation and heart regeneration; Conditional KO or global KI mouse models of RNA-binding proteins with either human genetic mutations related to congenital heart defects and neuronal disorders; Explore the crosstalk between protein synthesis (mRNA translation) and protein degradation pathways and create a novel research project and direction.The projects may be modified within the limits of the objectives defined by the supporting grant or other funding for your position.
I will be responsible for supervising you in this research program and also for guiding you in your career development.
We aim to publish at least 1-2 high-tier journal publications (plus 2-3 medium-level publications).
Liuqing will apply for the AHA postdoctoral fellowship (and CDA grant in the long term).
Liuqing will be responsible for training and educating junior lab members, such as graduate and undergraduate students, and guiding or collaborating with them on some sub-projects for hers and students' publications with co-authorship.
She will conduct experiments independently in the areas of biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, animal genetic and disease models, and bioinformatics analysis.
The PI, Dr. Yao, will supervise Liuqing closely in her experimental research and will meet with her biweekly to discuss her research progress and troubleshoot any experimental or technical problems.
Liuqing will give a quarterly lab presentation to obtain feedback and suggestions from the PI and lab members.
She is expected to begin writing her first manuscript after 1-2 years working in the lab, followed by 2-3 more manuscripts within the next 3-5 years
