.The OpportunityTo lead on bids, in the East & West Midlands, taking responsibility for the projects from inception (PQQ or project identification) to starting on site. We are looking for 1 candidate to cover the West Midlands and 1 candidate to cover the East Midlands. What you will be doingReporting to the Regional Preconstruction Director to ensure all work winning and preconstruction requirements are met across the wider Midlands regionLiaise with the Regional Managing Estimator to ensure timeframes are achieved for the technical and commercial elements of bids; Take the lead on tenders with the clients representatives establishing win strategy's and key client drivers for selection; Being one of the Business Unit's points of contact with central head office framework functions for relevant work sectors (in terms of preconstruction) – such as education, health, custodial etc; Lead in tender bid settlements together with the appropriate grade of director personnel who can sign off bids; Manage a small preconstruction team based within the regional business unit liaising with the construction delivery teams prior to commencing on site; Liaise with design managers or lead the preconstruction design process depending on the project size and complexity; Liaising with other teams – Business Development Manager; Managing Estimator & Estimating team; Construction delivery teams; Design Managers; Planning Manager; Head office framework functions; Lead bids and take responsibility for - client liaison during bid; technical bid submissions; lead bid settlement meetings with appropriate director.What we will need from youThe ability to develop and implement a winning bid strategy in line with the company's business planExcellent technical construction experience from either a design management, commercial or operational backgroundGood commercial acumen to support the implementation of the work winning strategyDemonstrable bid writing/ submissions skills; Demonstrable planning skills with the ability to work alongside our planner team to produce high quality tender, preconstruction and construction programmesIdeally able to demonstrate experience with similar peer group contractor from the local area; Personable withexcellent communication skills; Able to think quickly on their feet and adapt to situation; Good written English skills and highly numerate; Team player; Winning mentality; Engineering/ Construction Management background; ICIOB (or equivalent) or BSc Hons in construction related subject (Desirable); Safety training– SMSTS (Desirable).What we can offer youCompetitive salary (to be discussed on application)Car allowance26 days annual leave (with the opportunity to buy or sell up to 3 days holiday)Private medical insurance for yourself (with the option to buy family cover)Life AssuranceDefined contribution pension scheme matched up to 8%
