Microsoft has an immediate opening for an experienced attorney to join its Corporate External & Legal Affairs department (CELA) in Mexico City, to support the Public Sector sales organization in the role of Principal Corporate Counsel.
CELA LATAM is a solution-oriented team that includes attorneys and other professionals based in multiple locations across Latin America and whose mission is to drive clear and timely legal support for the sales organization in the region, supporting Microsoft's most strategic initiatives, driving cloud and AI adoption, unblocking complex deals, providing subject matter expertise, and supporting new and emerging concepts and business initiatives.
The successful candidate for this role will be a trusted advisor and partner for the Public Sector sales organization supporting sales in Mexico, contributing to its success. This role is an individual contributor and will report to the CELA Senior Lead Attorney of Microsoft Mexico, based in Mexico City.
QualificationsRequired/Minimum Qualifications
Juris Doctor Degree or international equivalent degree AND 4+ years experience as a practicing attorneyOR equivalent experience.Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction.Business level fluency to read, write and speak English and Spanish.Working knowledge of Microsoft 365.Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in law (LLM) considered a plus.Highly motivated self-starter with demonstrated ability to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced sales environment with minimal supervision.An aptitude for and interest in understanding technology, particularly innovations and advances.Team player who enjoys partnering with cross-functional teams to solve complex issues in a highly matrixed environment.Service-oriented individual who addresses business requests for legal advice promptly and crisply.Inquisitive and curious - enjoys learning new technical concepts, tackling cutting-edge legal issues and thrives on change.Drive Innovation – Use Copilot and other AI tools on daily activities.Community building – Contribute expertise and share best practices to Microsoft's commercial attorneys in Latin America, seeking to build skills and scale for effective legal support, leveraging our own AI tools and Copilot.ResponsibilitiesDrafting, negotiating, and advising business clients relative to complex cloud computing, AI services, devices, professional and support services, framework agreements, and others with the Mexican government industry customers.Providing strategic advice on industry procurements, various transaction agreements and acquisition methods, as well as procurement matters; including supporting RFx responses and protest matters.Providing strategic advice and guidance on rapidly changing AI, privacy, cybersecurity, procurement, and other regulatory and policy issues impacting the sale of Microsoft products and services to government customers.Providing other necessary general legal advice and counsel to business clients primarily in the areas of ethics and compliance, antitrust law, intellectual property law, privacy law, dispute resolution and corporate citizenship.Identifying and anticipating legal risks and developing solutions to mitigate future risks.Supporting training and office hours for internal stakeholders on public sector legal issues and legal compliance requirements.Engaging appropriate stakeholders to escalate issues.Advising and supporting business clients on contract management, risk assessment, deal structuring, and best practices.Benefits/perks listed below may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Microsoft and the country where you work:
