In this role, you will develop, manage, and execute Amazon's transportation compliance audit strategy for the LATAM Last Mile business. You will collaborate with Risk and Compliance Managers and own assessment of transportation models for potential compliance risks. As Amazon is continuously developing new transportation models, you will partner with transportation business leaders to proactively identify compliance regulatory business opportunities and propose innovative approaches and risk mitigation strategies for solving them. In this highly visible role, working closely with Amazon's transportation leaders, legal, tech, and 3P companies, you will apply your knowledge of operations and internal controls to a diverse set of risk areas. As a senior leader, you will leverage experience from these engagements, as well as existing and planned regulations to create and influence Amazon transportation policies and audit programs. You will be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and enjoy working on different problems every day.
This position requires the ability to travel periodically.
Key job responsibilities
- Growing and evolving the LatAm Last Mile Transportation Risk and Compliance (TRC) audit strategy.
- Ensuring transportation compliance awareness and policy positions of Amazon's business models internally, within local industry associations, and to other relevant stakeholders.
- Working collaboratively and transparently with senior business leadership, legal, and technology teams to ensure alignment between core business priorities and transportation compliance priorities.
- Developing and leading the end-to-end audit management program from risk identification to executive reporting, including aligning on remediation and / or enforcement mechanisms.
- Developing a working knowledge of the operational processes and controls in place that support all compliance programs.
- Assisting with linking policies, standard operating procedures, internal controls, monitoring, and reporting with the goal of improving operations, compliance policies, and risk management.
- Seeking opportunities and anticipating challenges/obstacles our transportation programs could face as the global business and regulatory landscape evolves.
- Leading and developing a team of risk assessment managers. Mentoring your staff, helping them develop their skills, encouraging new professional experiences, and satisfying their career goals.
- Communicating project issues and statuses in a concise, compelling, and professional manner to business partners and leadership executives

The Principal Risk Manager will work collaboratively with business stakeholders, safety, legal, finance, tech, and human resource teams to implement world-class, customer-centric, compliance and risk management solutions. The Principal Risk Manager executes using a broad set of skills that range from high-level strategic thinking to deep dive analytical problem solving. The individual exemplifies high judgment, effective decision-making, innovative thinking and a strong customer focus, along with excellent writing skills, succinctly communicating complicated issues in compelling business terms.

Transportation Risk and Compliance (TRC) is the voice of risk and compliance for Amazon's transportation businesses across 16 regions. We proactively identify and manage risks through risk mitigation strategies and provide assurance that Amazon and our carrier partners comply with the highest transportation and legal standards (including legislative, regulatory, and contractual). Anchored by sound subject matter expertise, processes, and growing technology solutions, our TRC leaders improve public safety and enable business growth as we work diligently to serve our customers.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- 10+ years risk management, audit, legal, compliance or similar discipline.
- Completed Bachelor´s degree.
- 10+ years team leadership experience.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English. Proficient in reading, writing and speaking in both languages.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- BA or BS in business, economics, operations, accounting, finance, policy, IT, or related field.
- Auditing and/or compliance skills (e.g., SOX, SOC, etc.) including risk assessments, defining audit roadmaps, audit or risk program design, control environment process documentation, and control mapping.
- Experience managing external agencies.
- Experience managing budgets.
- Understanding of basic data analytical skills and tools such as Tableau, SQL (intermediate to advanced).
- One or more professional certifications - CPA, CISA, CIA, CFE, CCEP, PMP.
- Background in continuous improvement (i.e. 6-sigma, ISO, Total Quality, etc.).
- Proficiency in Portuguese language
