SUMMARY OF POSITION**:_Briefly state the overall purpose of the position in one or two sentences, highlighting the general function(s)._
Under only general direction, primary objective is to provide support to the assigned product line including but not limited to; production, purchasing, sales, marketing, customer, research and development, product and process improvement, etc.
May perform engineering of specific products from design inception to finished product within generally established engineering and manufacturing parameters.

- Works with other engineers to maintain material qualifications.
Research and implements material qualifications.
Perform testing of materials.
- Customer support including 8D corrective actions, product design, specifications, quotes, materials, manufacturing controls design, testing, and engineering production responsibility for one or several routine to moderately complex projects.
- Performs or directs Technicians in evaluation of materials and processes to be used in any project design or second source.
Determines parts fabrication procedures and basic processes to ensure that the design is producible as stated.
- Fabricates or directs technicians in the fabrication of prototype models for test purposes.
Redesigns any components as necessary following test procedures to meet performance specifications.
Supplies the drafting department with final sketches to be incorporated into the final draft form.
Maintains adequate documentation to provide product history and any other pertinent information necessary for the design and production of assigned products.
- Recommends improvements, modifications and possible new design of production equipment or materials to immediate supervisor.
Handles line checkout of new equipment and full qualification of Materials.
Serves in a consulting capacity / capability with regard to trouble shooting of prototype.
- Closely examines production methods, materials, and facilities, constantly seeking out areas of improvement, and initiates any necessary action with vendors and internal Vishay departments to bring about identified product improvement.
Investigates production and process problems and takes necessary action to bring about practical and effective solutions.
- Regularly works with customers regarding product design, specifications, quotes, materials, manufacturing capabilities and corrective actions.

- May be required to travel to discuss customer problems involving assigned product or to investigate product-related problems in the field.

- At least 4 years experience in a manufacturing environment in metal/mechanic competences.
- A high level of mechanical aptitude and ability to translate design ideas to useable specifications is required.
- The ability to work effectively as a team member and/or leader is required.
- A high degree of customer service orientation is required.

Requires a bachelor's degree in Materials or Chemical Engineering or its equivalent

Responsible for the accomplishment of several routine to moderately complex product or process engineering projects and for providing advice and direction to less experienced Engineers and Technicians.
May be responsible for directing the accomplishment of projects involving the investment of $50 - $1,000,000.
