JOB SUMMARY
Reports to the Engineering Manager, identifies and develops internal areas of opportunities through the DMAIIC methodology and tools of Excellency in processes with the purpose of reducing the manufacturing cost of the products and continue with the culture of continuous improvement comprehended in the strategy of BWI.
Works in most of the activities with instructions about the general results that are expected. Can receive technical orientation in the most unusual or complex problems; generates solutions in an independent manner. Works with problems of different reaches, in which the analysis of the data requires the evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises his/her judgment in practices and policies generally defined, at selecting methods and techniques for obtaining results. Failures and errors in the decisions he/she takes and recommendations that he/she makes could result in serious delays in the programs and projects, as well as in considerable spending of resources.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identifies, designs and develops the necessary equipment.
- Performs material tests.
- Studies the processes to implement improvements.
- Responsible for preparing and managing specifications.
- Assists technicians and engineers about unusual problems.
- Responsible for purchasing and designing equipment that meets safety and environment requirements.
- Performs activities of process/product validation.
- RESPONSIBILITIES OF SUPERVISION ENGINEERS 1 AND 2: Can supervise, coordinate and technically revise the work of a limited group of technicians.
- Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in a wide range of tasks assigned in related fields.
- Takes decisions about problems and methods of engineering independently; represents the organization in conferences to solve important questions and to plan and coordinate work. Requires the use of advanced techniques, as well as the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of his/her branch, sciences and related disciplines. Supervision and guidance related to general requirements, critical issues, new concepts and issues related to policies.
- Consults with supervisors about problems and development issues.
- Is responsible for monitoring and other activities:
- Plans, coordinates and manages an important engineering Project, or a reduced number of projects with complex characteristics.
- As an individual researcher, performs complex tasks or of recent introduction that require the development of techniques or new, improved procedures.
- It is expected that his/her work results in the development of equipment, materials, processes, products and new, refined methods.
- As a specialist staff, develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities that other persons will perform.
- Evaluates the viability and solidity of the engineering evaluation tests proposed, of products and equipment when the necessary data is insufficient or when is advisable to perform the tests.
- Serves as a staff consultant in the technical specialty, some type of installation or equipment, or the function of a program.
- He/she is responsible for ensuring the compliance, personal and of the Company, with the federal, state and local regulations, policies and procedures corresponding to the areas of Health, Safety and Environment.
- Responsible for the purchasing or design of equipment that complies with the standards fixed by the Company in areas of health, safety and environment.
- Responsible for performing performance revisions and pre-validation evaluations to ensure the adequate start of new processes.
- Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
- Responsible for ensuring subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition
- Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulation
