The global technical leader for Generator New Unit Product Definition Engineer will manage and provide technical leadership for specific teams ensuring project execution, deliver with high Quality, within budget and on time. The Technical Lead will lead global technical growth strategy. Provide coordination of the team's effort for internal and customer deliverables establishing priorities, drive process enhancements, innovation, productivity, standardization initiatives across the team, Schenectady and Queretaro. The lead will also support KPIs and leadership initiatives.
Will be doing a strategic role with different partnerships with the design engineering, Manufacturing, and the supply chain to deliver the product definition, BOMs and PMI.
Job DescriptionEssential Responsibilities: Proactively and effectively communicate project specific progress, status, risk, necessary inputs, and target release dates to internal and external stakeholders.Lead cross functional meetings (with design engineering, project management, product management, etc.) to identify and mitigate risks during project execution.Being a promoter of SQDC mindset and adapt the culture in every project execution.Ensure design integrity and no high-risk escaping defects and drive improvements in first pass yield for customer drawings (FPY, error reduction).Demonstrate and further develop leadership and coaching skills / characteristics involving team building, interpersonal skills, and effective communication in fulfilling business level deliverables, weighing priorities, setting direction / tasks for the team.Drive strong sense of ownership, accountability, and urgency within the team in meeting critical business metrics.Comprehend and proactively influence new processes & business initiatives.Facilitate team communication to leadership on program execution and technical data.Enable and connect frequently with other PDE teams such as Steam and GT ensuring understanding of interfaces and ensuring these teams uses the latest designs avoiding quality mistakes.Identify trends and communicate opportunities for improvement to leadership.Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions.Drive proper application of GD&T, quality standards, model reviews, peer checking, for PDE deliverables.Juggle a variety of assignments to develop your own career path and professional growth.Embrace LEAN by adopting LEAN tools and principles for day-to-day operation & problem solving.Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor of Science Degree or Technology Degree in Engineering Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Computer Graphics Technology, or other STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).Minimum 6 years of related experience like engineering design, product definition, manufacturing, gas turbine technology, products, business, and strategy.NX (UG) with application of PMI to 3D model features and product Lifecycle Management Process knowledge and tool experience.Desired Characteristics: Established project management skills.Demonstrated Horizontal partnering relationship building skills across the team and with design engineering and manufacturing.Ability to formulate business strategies…awareness, connectivity and influencing skills to allow implementation of these and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.Demonstrated record of accomplishment in delivering results and leading others in a dynamic business environment.Proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.Process oriented mindset capable of analyzing, designing, and optimizing workflow to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.Change Management process knowledge/advocacy – Solid understanding of change management principles and methodologies and exhibit the ability to inspire and guide teams through transitions.Use of technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.
