The Material Process Engineer - FHS is responsible for material industrialization of alternative materials and new production technologies for Fluid Handling Solutions. This role involves fostering effective know-how transfer in cooperation with central departments, and managing different projects to support the region while reporting to the Head of Material Process Engineering FHS. Support of FHS plants in the US, Canada, and Mexico is also required.
ResponsibilitiesKnowledge Management: Facilitate know-how gathering, filing, and preservation for future use and support the investment process; communicate and execute the CT IAM PD MatPE strategy into the organization; manage, review, and steer Material Industrialization projects.Development: Work with the Material Team for industrialization and cooperation with central departments and external partners for implementation of new raw materials and production technologies; support PUR and SCM on technical discussions regarding alternate raw materials; foster material savings, phase-out of hazardous materials, and cost improvement projects.Supplier Contact: Contact and collaborate with suppliers (fabric, cord, polymers, rubber chemicals, etc.) to support product localization, quality, material property deviation, and sampling processes.Lab Testing: Organize laboratory testing on alternate materials; evaluate and interpret results; support to protect and create intellectual property for the group.Material Inspection & Validation: Evaluate and approve product and material properties during industrialization in accordance with product requirements.Environment: Ensure environmentally friendly handling of materials and fulfill legal and customer requirements in collaboration with Corporate Health and Safety.Quality: Support on project/product complaints and investigations; conduct supplier audits and approvals.QualificationsEducation / Certification: Chemical Engineer or Academic Degree in Engineering;
Professional Experience: Experience with hoses or rubber products and application fields; experience in the industrialization of technical products.
Required Knowledge: Expert - overall technical knowledge of Fluid Handling Solutions products and application fields;Expert - overall knowledge of belt development/physics/processes;Advanced - technical knowledge of materials (chemicals, compounds, cords);Advanced - project management skills;Basic - Quality management methods (FMEA, Statistics, 6 sigma, Yokoten);Project and/or Process Experience: Experience in Project Management - Planning, Leading, Monitoring, Risk management.
Intercultural / International Experience: Advanced Business English, good and global legal understanding.
