Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network.
The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications.
The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Key Responsibilities: Assign and mentor engineering personnel in product design projects to meet deliverables Guide direct reports on optimal design engineering methodologies Ensure accountability for project execution milestones, schedules, and budgets Conduct annual personnel reviews focusing on areas of development and training plans Establish a people network within Technology Development, Product Line Management and Manufacturing organizations Drive fundamental understanding by leading and/or collaborating with process engineers, modeling, material and molding experts Review and generate Intellectual Property Supervise people in local and possibly remote Corning locations Education: BS in an engineering discipline Required Competencies: 1 to 3 years of supervisory experience Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment Ability to motivate self and others Strong conflict resolution skills Desired Competencies: Background in Mechanical Engineering Experience in CAD systems Experience in a global organization Experience with outdoor enclosures Experience in fiber optic telecommunications networks Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (ASME Y14.5 2009) Basic understanding of precision manufacturing and measurement techniques Familiarity with injection molding and extrusion processes Travel requirements: 10-15%, includes local trips as well as international trips.
Primary travel locations are the United States, Germany, and Poland.
