**Essential experience in the medical industry and design of cables for medical products.
**
**Purpose of position**:
First point of contact for technical and commercial demands of dedicated existing or target key customers.
Act as technical consultant with high degree of expertise in cable systems to facilitate product development, understand future product requirements and to be at the forefront of new technological trends relating to cables / cable systems.
**Responsibilities**:
- Become the main technological interface for dedicated key customers and off site engineering team.
- Essential skills include creativity, problem-solving, technical proficiency, ability to read complex specifications, a strong understanding of design principles, engineering fundamentals, mathematical abilities, leadership skills, and effective communication.
- Work and manage new product development projects along-side with the clients' engineering groups and product specialists across various production sites.
- Become engrained in the customer's own project management structure, understand, participate and drive new and upcoming projects to ensure long-term AVL-positioning for our products.
- Identify/influence key decision makers within customer's engineering, NPI, and project management divisions.
- Consult customers with regards to optimized interconnect solutions, balancing customers expectations, manufacturing capabilities as well as new technologies
- Liaise with BizLink manufacturing / site-engineering to step-wise introduce new technological trends necessary to meet customer's future requirements and thus successively enhance manufacturing expertise
- Establish and manage/track project management structures (milestones, project organization etc.).
- Support environmental and certification testing at external or internal test sites, including test sample inspection and failure analysis.
- Clarify the needs vs wants, design specific direction vs generic functional requirements
- Update and develop internal documents as required to facilitate products from R&D to production ready status
- Maintain validation-process improvement work plans and road maps
**Required skill -Set**
- Extensive technical expertise regarding electrical, electro-mechanical, optical key parameters as well as good understanding of mechanical engineering challenges; expertise in demands of the medical equipment manufacturing industry would be considered an additional asset.
- Multiple years of market expertise, preferably in the cable or medical market segment
- Proven track record in working along-side or managing client teams in for a certain product line / division
- Willingness to travel regularly to Canada and occasionally to Europe.
- Experience in working within global enterprises, across multiple cultures and several international facilities
- Structured problem solving capabilities, self-motivated and organized personality focused on accomplishing objectives
- Language skills: native in English and Spanish
- Education: bachelors degree in electrical engineering or comparable education / field experience
- Strong problem solving skills and critical thinking
- Experience with relevant design or 3D programs such as AutoCAD or similar.
SolidWorks experience is considered and asset.
- Very good computer skills with MS Office, especially with Excel
- Extensive experience with ISO 9001 procedures required and ISO 13485 considered an asset
- Experience with injection molding considered an asset
