Purpose Statement: The Manager
- Product Engineer role is responsible as the key liaison between manufacturing and the customer, ensuring that overall customer quality and regulatory requirements and expectations are met and product meets all specifications.
Key Job Accountabilities:
- MANUFACTURING PROCESS DEVELOPMENT/SUPPORT: Define methods and standards to assess Engineering Change impact on manufacturing processes and implement necessary program changes capturing associated costs.
Lead review of customer requirements for new products and lead DFx feedback to customer.
- MANUFACTURING PROCESS PERFORMANCE: Lead manufacturing product performance metrics and drive continuous improvement activity to ensure cost targets are met.
Lead customer interaction on product performance reporting.
- MANUFACTURING PROCESS PROGRAM AND EQUIPMENT ACCEPTANCE/VALIDATION: Execution of product qualifications/acceptance for compliance to customer qualification requirements.
Execute resolution of issues with the customer that were identified during qualification/acceptance processes.
- NEW PRODUCT INTRODUCTION: Ensure the methods for manufacturing process strategies/solutions are defined and developed for existing customer programs.
Ensure initial quote validation and assessment to the actual production process performance in production Ensure design gaps are controlled prior to production release.
- TEAM DEVELOPMENT: Drive training, development and performance management for immediate team through regular performance-related interactions that lead to effective resource plans supporting business growth and technology trends.
Manage the development of SMEs and Process Owners in order to support the creation of effective technical training and meet customer requirements.
- Accountable to execute on Plexus' Best People strategy, leaders will focus on evaluating potential, driving succession planning and ensuring that their employees receive the development and coaching required to realize their full potential.
Additional Accountabilities:
- Establish implementation methods to meet customer's product quality and cost requirements.
- Ensure manufacturing process content of the PPQP is effectively designed and executed.
- Support master-validation planning.
- Lead the creation of product ABIs.
Lead change management of ECOs impacting production ABI's.
- Standardize Processes to ensure manufacturing flow is supported by standard work/customer requirements through consistent technical training, clear ABI's, and standard reports.
- Lead site manufacturing process/inspection equipment capacity forecast (major assets).
- Support overall development of the RCE justification, submission and approval.
- Define and ensure process compatibility of non-BOM items with manufacturing processes and customer requirements.
- Minimal travel may be required to meet the needs of the business (estimated 25%).
- Additional duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Seven (7) years of related experience is required; Five (5) years of equivalent industry experience is preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key job accountabilities may be considered.
Other Qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership and development of people.
- General office equipment and materials.
Work Environment:
- The work setting should consist of an office environment with suitable lighting, comfortable temperatures, and a low noise level.
