.OVERVIEWThe US Mexico Border Program Officer will be part of the team at USCRI Mexico's field office in Tijuana, involved in the implementation of recruiting university students to support the capacities of shelters in Tijuana and Mexicali. The Program Officer will guarantee the participation of students in order to provide social services and professional experience in the program. This position will report to the US Mexico Border Program Coordinator.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Establish and maintain communication with shelters participating in the program; - Identify needs of the shelters to assign students participating in the program to them; - Coordinate events and raise awareness of the program in the universities in Tijuana and Mexicali; - Undertake interviews of students to be recruited for the program; - Monitor and supervise the compliance of activities of the students in their designated shelters; - Respond to concerns from the shelters during the implementation of the program; - Draft risk assessmentsand other reports regarding the participation of students in these spaces; - Report activities and achievements of the program; - Support in other administrative activities; and- All other tasks necessary to fulfill the job description.POSITION REQUIREMENTS- Degree in law, international relations, sociology, communication, or a related field; - Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in providing services to migrants; - Demonstrated commitment to humanitarian response, for refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers, and/or other vulnerable populations; - Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to government funders, donors, clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and experience, multicultural staff, community partners, and volunteers; - Exceptional time management, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines; - Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, financial systems, and database programs; and- Commitment to USCRI's values including demonstration of respect for others and appreciation of a multicultural workplace; - Must pass a criminal background check and other screening requirements; - Demonstrated support of USCRI's values by exhibiting respect for others, maintenance of confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace; - Spoken and written Spanish and English is required. Knowledge of French, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole will be considered an advantage.TRAINING REQUIREMENTS- Satisfactory completion of USCRI's Orientation and Training; and- Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**- Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity; - Occasional lifting (upto 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functionsEQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITYU.S
