**Description**:**Key Responsibilities**:- **Preventative Maintenance**:- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on progressive stamping dies to ensure optimal performance and extend their lifespan.- Identify potential issues during inspections and implement preventative measures.- **Troubleshooting and Repairs**:- Diagnose and repair issues with dies, including alignment, wear, or damage.- Utilize precision measuring tools to maintain die accuracy and functionality.- Perform emergency repairs to minimize production downtime.- **Machining and Fabrication**:- Operate lathes, mills, and other machining equipment to fabricate or modify die components as needed.- Sharpen and maintain carbide tools to ensure precise cutting and forming capabilities.- Leverage surface grinders to achieve tight tolerances and smooth finishes on tooling carbide components, using diamond wheels.- **Die Setup and Adjustments**:- Assist in the setup and adjustment of dies in stamping presses.- Ensure proper alignment and function during production runs.- Assist operations on the daily process problems related to the stamping process.- **Documentation and Recordkeeping**:- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications.- Track die performance metrics and provide recommendations for improvements.- **Safety and Compliance**:- Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
**Skills, Knowledge and Expertise**:- 3+ years of experience in tool and die maintenance, specifically with progressive carbide stamping dies.- Proficiency in machining and surface grinding operations.- Experience sharpening and maintaining carbide tools.- Familiarity with high-speed stamping presses is a plus.- Proficiency with precision measuring tools (e.G., micrometers, calipers, height gauges).- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read technical drawings (e.G., GD&T)- Knowledge of CNC machining is an advantage.- Knowledge of electrical and acetylene welding process is a plus.- Basic knowledge on metals.- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.- Decision making based on critical problem analysis.- High school diploma or equivalent required.- Technical certification or apprenticeship in tool and die maintenance preferred.
