Leading manufacturer of precision tools for metal machining is looking for. PROJECT ENGINEER Purpose: The Project Engineer will be responsible for the successful delivery of proposals and projects, including concept, approval and manufacturing drawings in a timely and accurate manner according to our customers requirements. This position will act as the main person in the department, providing full support to others project engineers, application engineers, sales, customers, distributors and suppliers for the purpose of problem solving and workflow prioritization to ensure customer satisfaction. This position is also responsible for the administration of special projects, ensuring the company's quality standards. The person in this position will also be responsible for supporting the Technology Center, providing machining strategies for CNC programs as well as presenting tools and/or processes to customers when necessary.
Main Responsibilities: Product Quote Collect all the information necessary to generate accurate and timely proposals.
Analyze customer needs to ensure the requirements are in accordance with WALTER's core business and the tool can be produced profitably.
Submit proposals and drawings to customers to ensure full understanding of it.
Correctly use SAP and our cost calculation software to generate quotes and AutoCad to create proposal drawings.
Follow up on agreed dates to ensure the proposed delivery date is met.
Special projects Develop concepts that meet the needs of customers, working together with the sales team.
Generate quotes, designs and documentation of the tools, including, when necessary, specific data, such as cutting data, machining times, cost per part and savings reports.
Provide Engineering support to the Manufacturing Units, when necessary.
Be in contact with the Manufacturing Units, acting as the link between sales and manufacturing to ensure that the product meets customer needs and delivery time agreed.
Act as the link between the customer and the Manufacturing Unit when design changes are requested.
Ensure that all drawings are updated according to the latest customer revision.
Prepare ROI reports to show customers the savings on a special project.
Analyze the application of each tool to determine the manufacturing characteristics to achieve the best possible performance.
Generate manufacturing drawings ensuring they contain all important information for manufacturing.
Generate specific designs for manufacturing planning, as well as any other necessary information.
Consider in the design, the best machining process for manufacturing, considering the existing limitations in matters of fastening, machinery and/or tooling.
Education and Experience: University Degree in engineering, advanced technical degree, or experience yielding equivalent knowledge in cutting tool technology
Several years of sales experience with industrial cutting tools where new business development is the primary focus OR several years of manufacturing experience and ability to sell in end-user and channel sales model
Experience in a manufacturing or distribution marketplace.
Experience in working independently from a home office or virtual office environment and traveling a significant amount of time.
