**Job Title: Quality Control Sustainability - HSE Program Manager**
**Introduction to role**:
Join AstraZeneca as a Quality Control Sustainability - HSE Program Manager and play a pivotal role in crafting the future of Quality Operations Sustainability and Quality Control strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to lead groundbreaking initiatives, drive strategic change across our lab operation portfolio, and embed sustainability into our ways of working. As part of the Quality team, you will significantly chip in by leading, facilitating, and setting new standard ways of working for entrepreneurial initiatives through organisational change with a technical/digital focus.
**Accountabilities**:
As a Quality Control Sustainability - HSE Program Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive sustainability strategy to mitigate environmental impacts and drive sustainable practices across the Quality Operations organization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate balanced practices into development, manufacturing, and supply chain. You will also guide the implementation of lab-based sustainable solutions, waste reduction programs, energy efficiency measures, and water conservation initiatives; in addition to supporting broader HSE programmes.
**Essential Skills/Experience**:
- Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years total experience either in sustainability or in roles such as production, research and development (R&D), facilities, quality, or similar fields within the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector.
- Track record of successfully developing and implementing strategies and initiatives
- Excellent project management skills, including prioritization, timeline management, and budget adherence.
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations and emerging sustainability trends in the pharmaceutical sector.
- Proficient in analysing sophisticated data sets related to sustainability performance forecasting.
- Validated communicator who works optimally across the organization and externally to achieve outcomes. Forward-thinking attitude, passion, and learning competence to adapt to evolving sustainability challenges and opportunities.
**Desirable Skills/Experience**:
- Familiarity with circular economy principles and strategies for promoting resource efficiency and waste reduction with awareness of life cycle analyses (LCAs).
- Knowledge of sustainable supply chain management, including responsible sourcing and supplier engagement.
- Understanding of environmental justice and social equity issues, integrating them into sustainability practices.
- Experience in quantifying and reporting greenhouse gas emissions and developing strategies for carbon neutrality or net-zero emissions.
- Familiarity with sustainability frameworks and initiatives, such as: ISO 14001, GRI, LEED
