Impact In This Role At Fictiv, we're building a company that is developing the operating system for sourcing custom mechanical parts. We already enjoy manufacturing and delivering highly complex, high-quality parts for our Fortune 500 customers who are building the future with products like autonomous electric vehicles, surgical systems, and industrial robots. As we scale our business, we are looking to expand our growth within India.
As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will support and drive improvements with our growing network of manufacturing partners in Mexico. You will provide "boots on the ground" support to our manufacturing partners while representing the voice of the customer.
In this role, you'll be using your supplier quality engineering background in mechanical hardware production, leveraging your manufacturing process knowledge and structured problem-solving skills to resolve issues and to continually drive improvements.
The role is very hands-on, with frequent travel to our Mexican manufacturing partners expected. Additionally, you will maintain contact between visits using remote working practices such as virtual audits. You will be instrumental in giving customers the confidence that Fictiv manages parts manufacturing even better than they would.
As the Mexico Quality Team grows, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your leadership capabilities and position yourself for potential promotion into a Quality Team leadership role.
You will initially report to the Head of Global Quality and then transition to reporting to the Industrial Projects Manager.
What You'll Be Doing Onboarding new manufacturing partners – in collaboration with Fictiv's Strategic Sourcing Team, you will ensure that prospective manufacturing partners are effectively assessed for their ability to dependably deliver quality parts, on time to the customer's needs.Development of existing manufacturing partners – responsible for the following areas of development:Establishing processes to meet customer-specific requirementsEstablishing control plans to build quality inUsing Fictiv's supplier maturity model and manufacturing partner scorecards to plan improvement activitiesNonconformance resolution with manufacturing partners – coach manufacturing partners in effective root cause analysis and the execution of robust corrective and preventive actions.Continual improvement – in addition to the activities with individual manufacturing partners above, you will:Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing to strengthen the network of manufacturing partners, including disseminating best practicesImprove Fictiv's quality management system to give customers confidence that we have robust processes for the management of manufacturing partnersWork with your counterparts in China, India, and the US to standardize on best practices and leverage lessons learnedAlthough our Supplier Quality Engineers' priority is developing Manufacturing Partners so Fictiv ultimately doesn't need to perform inspection, as necessary, you'll perform inspections on-site at our manufacturing partners for high-risk orders.Customer advocacy - representing the voice of the customer at manufacturing partners.Potentially growing into a leadership position as the Mexico Quality Team grows.Minimum Requirements: 7 years of experience working with suppliers in Sheet metal and Injection Molded parts.2 years of experience in other areas of Quality management e.g. in-house Quality Engineer.Strong knowledge of APQP and product launch processes including PPAP development.Expertise in reading and comprehending part prints with a detailed understanding of GD&T fundamentals. Skilled with the use of various forms of hand metrology and inspection methodologies to ensure conformance to specifications. Knowledge of CMM operation would be beneficial.Record of data-based decision-making, demonstrating the ability to make timely decisions with limited data available.Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate successfully with manufacturing partners at all levels in their organization as well as working with customers remotely and face-to-face.Fluency in written and spoken business English.Good knowledge of quality management system requirements such as ISO 9001:2015 and awareness of other standards such as AS9100, IATF 16949, and ISO 13485.Travel required 25-50 percent of the time.
