Quality Manager Work Mode: Onsite Location: Reynosa Opportunity Under the direct direction of the Plant Manager, the Quality Manager will manage the support functions related to quality for the pressing operation processes of deep drawn stainless steel sinks, the APG molding process, and stainless fabrication processes.
Quality Management: To direct the Quality function this position will be responsible for all objectives established by the Plant Manager and Corporate Quality to ensure the highest quality of product. For New Product release and related documentation, the Quality Manager will develop the necessary information to represent marketing, engineering, and the customer on product requirements. The Quality Manager will lead improvements through KOS, problem solving with the necessary tools trained (six sigma, SPC, etc.) and administer a safe work environment in this 24/7 operation in Reynosa, Mexico.
New Product/Process Development: Develop control plans, assist with PFMEA, FMEA, and capability studies for new equipment and processes. Manage quality planning activities for incoming raw materials for new and existing processes.
Existing Processes: Maintain tooling availability for production using robust designs to prevent loss of productivity due to catastrophic failures.
Implement preventative maintenance programs based on numeric data and tracking to assure consistent product presentation for polishing operations and compliance with product engineering specifications. Verify with quality audit data.
Production Planning, Scheduling and Staffing Support: As part of the production team, support scheduling inputs, press die change plans, and required staffing support and headcount planning.
Provide multi-shift technical support for pressing operations, quality functions, and die maintenance.
Manage the calibration program and vendor selection as needed.
Provide planning and strategies for environmental, safety, and local regulations for indirect process-related consumables as applicable to the manufacture of stainless steel sinks. Support research and testing for such consumables and implementation strategies.
Comply with the same budget strategy for quality and inspection.
Provide career development as identified for subordinates to develop key associate growth potentials.
Provide technical support to other divisions within the Kohler Company as required. Lead or provide technical support for the development of company engineering standards.
Internal Quality: Establish metrics and planning for internal provider/customer relationships between departments and analyze and report trends. Report as required by corporate quality yields and other data as required.
Manage internal process deviation program.
Regularly review AOQL sample and lot sizes for appropriate auditing relative to process capability.
Develop the appropriate measures, systems, and personnel to manage the adherence of processes within the plant to the documented Quality System. Define measure equipment capability and data gathering systems on processes.
Attract and hire skilled technical personnel capable of diagnostic and problem solving.
Manage incoming inspection program to component specification, and assist in the qualification of new vendors. Support purchasing. Act as liaison for corporate supplier quality. Manage QM/SAP reporting functions.
Customer Complaints/Warranty/Trend Analysis/CCU/UFR using CRM PolyVista database reporting.
Manage related corrective actions, external deviations, and compliance issues. Assure that corrective actions are effective and timely.
Act as liaison for external listing agencies and audit functions. Prepare and lead all external audit functions and support future requirements.
Comply with corporate requirements for PWA, LCA, and Layered Audit programs. Maintain and review a financially appropriate staffing level to support these functions.
Skills/Requirements EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE BACKGROUND: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Industrial Technology and/or a minimum of 10 years of quality or engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with evidence of continued education in technical problem-solving techniques. Minimum of 5 years management experience and ability to travel abroad. Familiarity with ISO/TS practices. Effective written and oral communications skills in Spanish required with conversational English capability. Must have computer skills in MS Office (Mini-Tab or equal, SAP a plus), demonstrated budget management, and proven leadership in a competitive, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
