JOB SUMMARY :
The Quality Manager is responsible for managing both business systems and quality functional activities within a site to deliver customer satisfaction and high-quality modules.
This key position is the voice of the customer in our assembly plants and the coach for problem solving and system adherence on site.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Responsible for product quality, customer satisfaction, and the quality system on site.
Maintain and report key quality metrics including COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality), Scrap, FTTQ (First Time Through Quality), and others as needed.
Lead continuous improvement activities (supplier, internal and customer) on site based on key quality metrics.
Responsible for audits and documentation requirements (internal, third party and customer) with the goal to maintain certifications and increase customer satisfaction.
Manage and develop customer and supplier relationships. Direct plant quality staff and customer liaison. Develop and coach direct reports on quality tools and methodologies.
Teach and coach plant staff as subject matter expert in problem solving tools, process management, measurement techniques and statistical analysis.
Train and coach local site team on quality tools and methodologies.
Utilize root cause analysis tools (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone) to diagnose/prevent/correct failures during the assembling process.
Validate and assist in the development of verification and error proofing practices on the site.
All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
Quality Certification preferred (CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt, CQA, etc.).
Years of Experience : 5+ years of Quality Engineering and at least 2 years in an automotive manufacturing/assembly environment (FORD).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

Demonstrated use of data-based decision making and problem solving (PDCA, Pareto Charts, 8Ds, 5 Why, Budget, Forecast, Key Performance Indicators).
Understanding of APQP process including strong working knowledge of PFMEA and Control Plans, ISO9001 or IATF 16949:2016 Quality Systems.
Understanding of manufacturing engineering with respect to one or more of these areas: automated assembly equipment, product assemblies, tooling, fixtures and gauges.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proven leadership skills; ability to collaborate across different stakeholders; and mentor and develop staff.
Sense of urgency and an overall customer satisfaction focus. Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, short-window automotive assembly and/or sequencing plant environment.
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presenting and the ability to influence all levels of computer skills in MS Office suite of software, especially with use of Excel.
