Quality Staff Engineer
Location: Onsite / Juárez, Nuevo León, MX. Opportunity Kohler Faucets Basic Function
Under the general direction of the Senior Manager of Quality Engineering for Faucets/Metals/Vikrell (FMV), this engineer's main objective is to successfully support New Product Development (NPD) within the primary scope of the Faucets business. Specifically, ensuring KBDP deliverables that could impact customer or brand perception of our products are properly executed.
This engineer will heavily interact with the other Faucet Quality Engineer, Reliability Engineer, and the balance of the FMV Quality team and may help drive customer feedback into the Engineering Standards to prevent replication of issues in future development. The engineer's goals are both warranty reduction and improved customer feedback metrics.
Specific Responsibilities Support Faucets Engineering in the New Product Development (NPD) process, including: correctly identifying Critical to Quality Characteristics, assessing and developing appropriate process controls, assessing manufacturability (with emphasis on issues that could impact quality and/or yield), review of qualification and verification test plans and results (which will include engaging reliability engineer), ongoing review of Engineering Standards for completeness (which will include engaging reliability engineer), establishing additional inspection and/or test plans.Identify, lead, coach, facilitate, and/or participate in quality and cost improvement projects (in Faucets and/or other product lines with FMV) to support strategic objectives. This includes project planning, day-to-day project management, data analysis, and reporting.Drive and facilitate all aspects of quality within New Product Development teams. Evaluate strategy and product/process changes and make recommendations to the Senior Manager FMV Quality Engineering, Operations Management, Engineering Management, and/or the Director of FMV Quality.Analyze product field failure products and data for root cause identification and elimination as needed.Support KQMS activities and initiatives as needed.Train and coach other associates in Quality improvement methodologies as needed.Coordinate product containment activities, warranty data and product failure, establish investigation and analysis methods, and implement corrective actions as needed.Relationships and Contacts Supervisory Relationships:
Reports to the Senior Manager, FMV Quality Engineering, K&B. Mentors, coaches, and/or advises less experienced Quality/Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians. May formally supervise them. Operates independently with minimal guidance from managers and/or senior staff.
Organizational Relationships:
Frequent contact with Product Engineering, Marketing, Customer Service, and Customer Quality regarding NPD projects, warranty claims, warranty repairs, and other improvement activities. Frequent contact with senior Management regarding project status (both individual projects and the larger improvements to the NPD Process in meeting deliverables). Frequent contact with Engineering regarding manufacturability of designs, capability of suppliers, and selection of improvement projects. Frequent contact with Marketing, Industrial Design, Purchasing, and Program Management through support of New Product Development teams and projects. Some contact with KOS/Global Quality regarding support of KQMS activities and initiatives.
External Relationships:
Some contact with customers, distributors, contractors, and end consumers regarding product performance. Occasional investigative visits to distributors, job, and homeowner sites.

Demonstrated ability to understand and influence business results through quality and cost improvement projects. Leads cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical or business problems. Provides program management, coaching, and benchmarking at a Division or Customer level. Sought after for technical project or team leadership. Key problem-solving resource at the Divisional level. Leverages improvements effectively across product lines or platforms. Drives implementation of improvements across global and organizational boundaries. Willing and successful in assessing and assuming appropriate risk for short term or strategic initiatives. Effectively justifies strategies and action plans under critical review.
Education and Experience Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering or scientific discipline.Previous experience in quality engineering, manufacturing systems or processes related technologies.Past results include successful technical leadership on high financial impact projects and/or programs.Skilled in the application of lean manufacturing techniques, advanced statistical methods, program management techniques, and quality system development.Excellent problem solving and project management, good oral and written communication skills, and strong computer skills are required.Advanced certification in Six Sigma, Shainin, or other advanced problem-solving methodology is desired.Recognition by ASQ as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), or Certified Quality Manager (CQM) is also desirable.Why Choose Kohler?
