We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon.As an R&D Procurement Pharma External Ocular Device Category Manager supporting the R&D Procurement team, you will be responsible for driving productivity through the development a multi-year global Category Strategy and Sourcing Plan, establishing a robust sourcing pipeline, and managing strategic supplier relationships.
This position will also be accountable for cost management, reporting, and partnering with R&D stakeholders to achieve budget goals and optimize procurement processes.
This role will report to the Head of R&D Procurement.In this role, a typical day will include:- Oversight of Pharma, EOD, and Ocular Health category with a 3rd party spend of ~$80-90M / year covering pharmaceutical products and medical devices.- People leader: Mexico City based Procurement Analyst will report to this position.- Develop and implement a multi-year Global COE/Category Strategy and Sourcing Plan to optimize sourcing practices for R&D materials and services.- Manage and expand a multi-year Strategic Sourcing Pipeline, identifying and developing qualified vendors to meet R&D needs.- Foster strong Strategic Supplier Relationships (SRM) to achieve cost savings, ensure quality, and manage risks.- Lead cost management and productivity initiatives for your assigned categories.
This includes developing Should-Cost Models, collaborating with Finance on Delivered-On-Time metrics, and evaluating budgetary impact.- Partner with the Procurement Analytics team to develop reporting that supports productivity improvements and market data analysis.- Serve as a trusted business partner to R&D functional leaders, providing strategic guidance and support on sourcing decisions.- Work closely with R&D Finance Business Partner Analysts (BPAs) to review cost savings achievements against budget targets.- Communicate effectively: Regularly communicate the COE's goals, achievements, and best practices to all stakeholders.- Proactively communicate and escalate issues to the R&D Procurement Head.- Offer valuable input during the R&D budget cycle.- Champion contracting and negotiation excellence within the COE team.- Gain a deep understanding of your category's supplier baselines, should-cost models, and budget/spend details, including top spend suppliers
