About the rolePlays a key role in the development of new scientific innovations within the Kerry RD&A team. Supports RD&A with physicochemical analysis, sensory tests, and other insights. Works as a member of a research unit/project team. Typically provides second level supervision to RD&A science team, providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior members. Are subject Matter Experts with deep expertise.
Key responsibilitiesContributes to the delivery of research strategy. Provides technical support to the Sales group in the completion of key projects, as well as technical sales contact with customers.Keep abreast of technical developments and market trends in the food industry.Work on new products concepts and operations for commercialization scale ups at manufacturing sites. Leads breakthrough innovation projects.presents the results of internal research at conferences and workshops.Development of strong application knowledge within relevant food categories and acts as a key technical advisor to other colleagues in product development.Builds scientific knowledge through interactions with other RD&A personnel and by regular literature reviews, regulatory monitoring, and application studies.Reviews scientific literature to guide thinking on specific projects.Establishes strong relationships with selected academic researchers and Universities to further develop scientific/application knowledge and pilot plant capabilities.Participates in designated RD&A projects and ensures appropriate documentation of experimental trials and outcomes to facilitate scale up and product transfer to manufacturing.Qualifications and skillsBachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.5 years of mandatory experience in a laboratory setting, preferably within the food and beverage industry.Excellent oral and written communication skills through different levels in the organization, with ability to present technical findings.Ability to develop and implement projects.Work well in an ambiguous setting, self-motivated, proactive, work with minimal direction.Work well with cross-functional teams.Team player, report results in a conscientious manner, stay abreast of current literature.Problem solver, solution seeker, independently identify experimental work necessary to achieve project objectives, contribute workable creative ideas.Interact with other groups within Kerry when necessary (applications groups/marketing/production).Language: intermediate English at least.
