Reporting to the MGR-Regional EHS, LATAMs, the regional EHS Program Manager is responsible for compliance which relates to safety and environmental regulations, and the development and implementation of Kohler Co. strategic EHS initiatives. This position will lead performance improvement objectives, provide oversight of EHS projects, and serve as liaison with regulatory agencies for safety and environment for all sites within the region. This position will work directly with government environmental and occupational safety agencies during site inspections, coordinate response to any information collection requests, and lead negotiations for environmental permitting conditions and safety compliance.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESMaintain an understanding of current and proposed safety and environmental regulations within the region.Anticipate potential risks and create a strategy to mitigate impact to the businesses.Drive regulatory compliance at all facilities within the region. Working with facility leadership, develop, implement, and monitor planned activities to achieve and maintain compliance.Track the activity of government safety and environmental agencies within the region and share the lessons learned. Report to regional leadership on current efforts, trend analysis and potential future impacts of regulatory enforcement.Work with facility operations to examine/audit permits and licenses to ensure the operations meet or exceed EHS regulatory requirements.Evaluate and approve waste disposal sites, recycling vendors, sewage treatment facilities and other government and contracted services to ensure these facilities comply with applicable EHS regulations.Review Kohler Co. capital projects to confirm permit needs and any impacts from existing or proposed EHS regulations.Review safety and environmental compliance audits with the manufacturing operations. Assist with mitigation planning, share compliance risks and corrective actions implemented across the facility and the region. Monitor and track corrective actions to completion.Develop and implement strategies to improve a culture of environmental stewardship. Drive EHS performance to align with Kohler Co. standards.Develop and implement tools, training, guidance, policies, and programs necessary to ensure compliance. Support the facilitation of EHS communication and training related to policies, procedures, standards, reporting, initiatives, etc.Produce monthly EHS KPI reports and other updates to conduct data analyses and trending that enables targeted risk reduction efforts and ultimately performance improvement.Ensure timely and accurate reporting of incidents. Analyze trends and assist with root cause identification that ensures proper corrective and preventive actions are executed and sustained across the business.Coordinate internal EHS audits as required by Kohler Co. Standard.Lead and/or influence talent management and development of the business EHS function to include KPI development.Support KEMS/KSMS proficiency and tier advancement through participation in facility self-audits and review and preparation of documentation and achievement evidence.Engage in the rulemaking process to represent Kohler Co.'s interests.Assist with permitting to keep projects on schedule and result in permits with maximum operational flexibility.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESExtensive knowledge of safety and environmental laws and regulations.Ability to work with multiple operations across varying business units.Experience with EHS auditing, root cause analysis, and corrective action identification and implementation.Demonstrated communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.Attention to detail and compliance with company policies and procedures.Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to achieve results.Ability to interact with all levels of an organization.Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSBachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, or safety science; MS is preferred with certification as CSP, CHMM, PE, etc.Working knowledge relating to environmental controls for wastewater treatment, air emissions and contaminant remediation.At least seven years of experience in a regional, national, or international corporate environment preferred.Experience working with multiple site locations.Current knowledge of regulatory trends in EHS.Previous experience managing EHS compliance within an industrial manufacturing environment is required.Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential to this position.Position is action oriented requiring the incumbent to creatively plan, prioritize and meet timelines on a consistent basis.Able to perform effectively with limited supervision across numerous internal and external departments, maintaining a high standard of professionalism and integrity.Ability to travel locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally up to 50% of the time.Why Choose Kohler?We empower each associate to #BecomeMoreAtKohler with a competitive total rewards package to support your health and wellbeing, access to career growth and development opportunities, a diverse and inclusive workplace, and a strong culture of innovation.
