As a Regional Safety Engineer, you will lead the Health and Safety function of your assigned area. You will be responsible for advancing safety culture and improving the health and safety of our data centers, by protecting our employees through safety incident prevention, investigation, and mitigation.The Regional Safety Engineer must be an effective communicator, sending clear, concise and consistent messages verbally, in written form, and/or public speaking forums. This individual must instruct and train company personnel on safety policies, assisting the teams in incorporating our safety standards at their respective site(s). This role will report to the Regional Safety Manager and be responsible for continuing to enhance the safety of operations. Additionally, you will work closely with construction builds. This position may require some domestic and international travel.Responsibilities:Daily interactions with our customers delivering health and safety leadership and guidanceImplement health and safety standards, policies and practices including, but not limited to; safety management systems, training, risk assessments, and applicable safety regulationsAssist with industrial hygiene and ergonomics assessments.Conduct health and safety audits of data centers and active construction sites to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements as well as life safety requirementsEnsure compliance and implementation of global health and safety programs that exceed regulatory requirements.Develop health and safety plans for on-site emergencies, business continuity, and other unique events.Maintain adequate safety record keeping and data integrity.Perform data trend analysis to present to cluster leadership to support business and safety initiatives.Consult and partner with compliance and legal teams for interpretations and guidance.Identify risks and partner with Operations to permanently mitigate them via the hierarchy of controls.Collaborate with other groups within Amazon (Facilities Managers, Human Resources, Hardware Operations, etc.) and outside vendors (General Contractors, Sub-contractors, Emergency Services, Underwriters, etc.) as they relate to operations.Ensure compliance and enforcement of global safety programs and local regulatory legislation.Develop safety plans for on-site emergencies, special events and other unique safety situations to assure proper evacuation procedures are followed
