Position Summary:
Develop and launch new products, suppliers, and technology.
Responsibilities:
Implement the BorgWarner Supplier Development Process in the area of responsibility.
Support both regional and global needs in screening suppliers, program launch requirements (APQP), and series delivery under the direction of the Global Supplier Development Director and as determined necessary by BU and RU requirements.
Develop and maintain quality system expectations, update and control suppliers' conformance to IATF 16949, as required.
Conduct regular audits and special surveys at suppliers' facilities and manufacturing processes to determine adequacy and capability of quality control and ability to comply with complete quality specifications.
Lead APQP process as part of new product introduction.
Drive performance improvements to the established objectives at suppliers and prepare relevant periodic reports.
Develop and implement quality initiatives to improve cost, reduce PPM's, CPM's, and improve 8D response times.
Review quality problems with Engineering personnel and coordinate cross-functional technical problem resolution at supplier.
If necessary, apply escalation management process together with BU and RU representatives from Purchasing and Supplier Quality.
Provide and train standards for supplier quality and continuous improvement activities at the supply base, applying established procedures, lessons learned, and best practices.
Analyze suppliers' and sub-suppliers' capacities and drive improvements when necessary to meet the needs of BW production requirements.
Visit potential new suppliers to assess their quality systems and production capabilities.
Provide input to commodity strategy.
Maintain and report summary status of suppliers with the supply base relative to delivery, capacity, capability, quality, and other criteria required to properly assess the ongoing capability of the supply base. Support Technical Change Management (CM) in case of regional/global changes.
Job Profile & Experience:
Profile:
Industrial, Electronic, Mechanic engineering degree or similar.
Fluent in both written and oral English; multi-linguistic as a plus.
Able to use Microsoft Office tools and SAP.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedures, and manuals.
Experience working effectively in global teams, multiple cultures, and languages.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, suppliers, clients, customers, and the public.
Experience:
C.Q.E. Certified Quality Engineer or national equivalent is a preferred certification.
Certified VDA 6.3 auditor or equivalent desirable.
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, or Shainin.
Lean Manufacturing background.
Expertise in Customer Specific Requirements.
APQP and quality files.
