The Tax department at Q2 offers a hard-to-find dynamic work environment that welcomes innovative ideas, rewards hard work and commitment, exposes its members to growth opportunities, and encourages evolution of individuals, methodologies, processes, and systems.The focus of the Sales Tax Accountant is to be responsible for the maintenance and preparation of all aspects of the organization's federal, state, local, and international indirect tax compliance and to assist with direct (income) tax compliance. The Sales Tax Accountant should be familiar with a variety of tax related concepts, practices, and procedures, specifically indirect tax. This position reports to the Director, Global Taxation.A Typical Day:- Manage US sales tax process with overseas team and outsourced compliance provider. Conduct multi-state taxability research.- Use Avalara and Excel to conduct data analysis, reporting, and reconciliations.- Analyze substantial amounts of sales tax data and match with general ledger transactions.- Maintain and monitor sales tax exemption certificates.- Review purchase invoices monthly for proper use tax determination.- Register entities in new jurisdictions for sales/use tax, business and occupation licenses, or gross receipts tax as necessary.- Responsible for coordinating annual report preparation for all necessary states.- Prepare and file business/sales tax licenses and renewals.- Analyze new products to ensure proper sales tax classification.- Assist with information gathering for indirect tax audits with various taxing authorities
