Your role at Clorox:
The Senior Accountant on the Domestic Operations - Corporate Accounting team partners with various business units (Glad, Kingsford, Litter, Food, Burt's and Brita) and cross functional teams to provide accounting oversight and support.
This position is involved in various aspects of monthly and quarterly accounting close processes as well as accounting and reporting for the Company's Glad Joint Venture.
The position provides expertise on accounting matters impacting reporting as well as strategic business decisions through demonstrating influencing skills with other business partners.
The Senior Accountant position will also drive process improvements by identifying and executing changes to be more efficient and effective as well as supporting our external reporting requirements and audit activities.
In this role, you will:
- Support monthly and quarter close processes, including review and preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations as well as reporting and analytics for area of responsibility.
- Provide technical accounting support (U.S. GAAP accounting guidance) to the business unit partners within the Finance organization, including research and recommendations on accounting issues as well as implementation of accounting and policy changes.
- Provide support to internal and external audit activities including preparation and review of audit schedules as needed.
- Involved in accounting and reporting surrounding the Glad Joint Venture.
- Drive process improvements by identifying and executing changes to be more effective and efficient including leveraging data and technology to unlock value.
- Other ad hoc requests, such as documentation of key transactions through technical accounting memorandums and other projects to support accounting team or business units.
What we look for:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting or relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial statements
- Attention to detail resulting in consistent, reliable and accurate work product
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong spoken and written English
- Strong planning and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize
- Flexible, adaptable and proactive
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in teams and with cross functional partners
- Strong understanding the financial close processes
- Strong process improvement mindset with ability to identify and implement changes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with a major ERP system (SAP, HFM)
- Big 4 or public accounting experience preferred
- Experience with Power BI and Power Query
