**Career Area**:Engineering**:The Caterpillar Drivetrain Team in Monterrey, Mexico, has an opportunity for an entry level engineer to serve as a Drivetrain Controls Simulation Engineer. This individual contributor role will work under the guidance of experienced mechatronics and calibration engineers to support the concept, design and development of transmission and brake control systems using in-house simulation tools.**Job Duties**- Develop and maintain a keen understanding of internal and external customers' needs- Support the design, development and validation of mechanical drivetrain hardware and controls systems to meet product requirements- Develop/update and maintain drivetrain, oil system, machine hardware and controls systems models per corporate modeling standards- Support definition of test plans needed to correlate models- Utilize standard work and automation processes to efficiently execute simulations- Participate in design reviews to share recommendations with process partners**Basic Qualifications**- Bachelor's degree in either Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, or Mechatronics engineering disciplines from an accredited university- 2 or more years of experience with either design, development, or modeling and simulation of drivetrain systems- Self-starter with strong technical and analysis skills, attention to detail, customer focus, and the ability to perform concurrent assignments with team members- Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and process partners- Good planning and organizing skills- Strong English and Spanish language speaking and writing skills- Experience with 1D modeling software, such as Amesim, GT-Suite, or MATLAB/Simulink- Experience with control strategy development and/or integration- Knowledge of powertrain and hydraulics systems- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI or similar- Experience with DOEs, optimization and robust design- Scripting experience in Python and/or MATLAB**The Caterpillar Code of Conduct states that we will select and place employees based on their qualifications for the job to be performed, without regard to race, religion, national origin, color, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or disability.
