.**Senior Communications Coordinator, Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) for Global Gas and Oil Network****Position**: GGON Senior Communications Coordinator, Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC)**Time commitment**:1 year position. 20-24 hours per week / 2.5-3 days, to be concentrated in segments or spread evenly over the week.**Salary**:1,500-2,000USD/month depending on experience and location.**Reporting**:To the GGON Global Communications Manager and supported by the Latin American & Caribbean Regional Manager.**About the Global Gas and Oil Network**The Global Gas and Oil Network (GGON) is an international non-profit network of civil society organisations established to support global efforts to stop oil and gas expansion and catalyse a just and equitable managed decline of existing production in line with limiting global warming to the ambitious goal of the Paris Agreement (1.5 ºC). Over 200 organisations globally are engaged in the Network, and this number continues to grow.GGON is supporting efforts to stop new oil and gas extraction and infrastructure, including campaigns to limit public and private finance of oil and gas development, as well as legal, research and communications strategies, to thereby enable ambitious action from decision makers for an equitable oil and gas phase-out The Network hosts strategic gatherings, provides coordination, research and analysis and is working with partners to build a community of practice. GGON operates with a small secretariat that is guided by a strategic advisory committee.**Responsibilities**- Strategic communications: _- Produce the LAC **regional communications strategy** that moves forward the collective strategic work of national and regional GGON hubs & members in the region and connects to the global oil and gas communications strategy. This will be done in consultation with member organisations in LAC, partners and the GGON secretariat team. It will both inform and be shaped by a global communications strategy.- Help to support, coordinate and advise partners on how to implement the LAC regional communications strategy.- Support LAC GGON members to develop communications aspects of a **rapid response or crises communications strategy **and where needed provide rapid response support for key developments in the region and globally on oil and gas issues.- Media relations_- Conduct a **strategic assessment of the media scene** for LAC in relation to oil and gas storytelling, challenges, major themes and provide recommendations for **intervention and proactive media relations**interventions in the regional and international media (*includes Latin America and the Caribbean national and regional press and International media -Spanish and English speaking)
