Our client is an established structural concrete subcontractor based in Southern California, specializing in commercial multifamily new construction projects.
We are currently expanding into residential single-family residences, as well as Retail/TI scopes.

As we aim to formalize and grow our company, and enhance our services, we are looking for a motivated and experienced Estimator to join our team and drive our growth initiatives.
**Role Summary**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Precision Estimating:
- Conduct detailed cost analyses and estimates for all aspects of concrete construction projects, including materials like form lumber, miscellaneous materials, deck formwork and concrete yardage, as well as labor and equipment.
- Calculate the minutiae, from the number of nails needed to the volumes of concrete, ensuring nothing is overlooked and accurate quantities of each provided.
- The ability to provide a detailed estimate of all facets of concrete construction, including concrete, masonry, reinforcing and shotcrete, for the purposes of either self-performing or auditing the pricing from subcontractors.
- Meier is established as a commercial multi-family concrete specialty subcontractor and is looking to add presence in the residential and retail sectors.
Having the ability to estimate concrete in multiple sectors is required.
- The ability to create estimates and budget workbooks from scratch and create processes for other members of the team to replicate as we grow.
- Project Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with project managers to define project timelines, phases, and resource requirements.
- Serve as a peer in project discussions, offering valuable insights and strategic input to enhance project planning and execution.
- Deeply involved with project hand-off from Pre-Construction to Construction.
- Software Proficiency:
- Utilize advanced Excel skills to create functions and macros tailored to project estimation.
- Assist in the management and creation of estimating templates for future use and growth.
- Adapt and master new estimating software as needed, maintaining high proficiency across varying platforms.
Meier is looking at various software including ProEst, On-Screen Takeoff, Procore Estimating, and is open to investing in software based on this role's feedback.
- Budget Management:
- Provide precise cost takeoffs to enable effective budget management and tracking by field superintendents.
- Providing the Project Management team with a "handoff" document with precise durations and quantities of materials for ease of building and tracking budget/vs actual, will be an essential aspect of this role and the estimate workbooks that are created.
- Regularly compare projected costs to actual expenditures, identifying variances and areas for financial optimization.
Adapting estimates and budget values based on actual results.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Engage in ongoing analysis and feedback cycles with project teams to refine estimating practices and enhance accuracy.
- Innovate and suggest improvements in estimation processes and techniques, striving for efficiency and competitiveness in bid submissions.
- Team Collaboration and Communication:
- Maintain open lines of communication with all team members, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency and a commitment to timely project completion, while supporting the company's vision for growth.
- Scheduling
- Estimators will be required to create baseline project schedules, which will be resource loaded by project managers upon award.
- It is important for estimators to understand scheduling, to be able to determine timeline for equipment and other general conditions/requirements, as well as labor.
The schedule for this role is 7 AM to 3:30 PM Pacific Standard Time Zone.

**Requirements**:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Master's degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience as an estimator in commercial construction, specifically with expertise in structural concrete, masonry, reinforcing and shotcrete.
Commercial experience is required, with additional experience in residential and retail highly preferred as we look to expand into those
