Whatever your role, working for WGU gives you a part to play in helping students graduate, creating a better tomorrow for themselves and their families.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Hires, leads, and develops software engineering leaders and creates high performing teams.Sets and governs Operational Excellence guidelines for engineering practices in partnership with Enterprise Architecture.Leads and drives outcomes on time, on scope and on budget for software delivery and maintenance.Establishes and maintains engineering key performance indicators for engineering capacity management and forecasting.Provides day-to-day staff management, coaching, mentorship, and development, particularly to the leaders within the Engineering Department.Keeps an eye on industry trends and engineering training to grow the talent of our teams and individuals.Performs other related duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:Leader or leaders experienceProblem solving skillsStrategic planning for growth and management of engineering capacityBudgeting and financial experienceGrowth and development of future leadersCompetencies:Drives innovation and improvements to engineering practices and standardsManages and develops individuals' performance against department and organizational goalsRisk Management and decision-making competenciesExperience in managing and leading engineering teamsLeadership & Talent Management:Manages teams of managers and professionals. Responsible for creating workforce and staffing plans for area.
