Senior Fullstack/Backend Engineer About the role As a Senior Full Stack/Backend Engineer, you'll be an influential member of our product and engineering team, leading R&D investigations into candidate product and technology applications, building new products from 0 to 1, and working with an interested and inspired team to continuously enhance and scale our category-defining platform and the systems that support it.
You'll collaborate closely with fellow engineers, product managers, sales and operations leaders to tackle real business, technology and customer-facing problems that will have a direct, and highly visible, impact on the success of Client products and the families that depend on them.
**This is a hands-on software engineering role.
You will join a small team of experienced engineers that are interested in the "why", care about quality, and love to ship product.

Bring something new to our small R&D team – help us continue to raise the skill, knowledge and experience level of our team What we're looking for ? +6 years of professional experience in software engineering, building customer-facing software (startup experience preferred) ? BA/BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience ? Attention to technical excellence, and proficiency with object-oriented programming and distributed systems ? Demonstrated ability to balance pragmatism and innovation in your technical decisionmaking to maximize ROI and manage risk ? Proficiency unpacking business problems into workable, logical concerns, and communicating complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders ? Ability to confidently articulate the pros and cons of available solutions and offer thoughtful recommendations that demonstrate your understanding of project and user goals, incentives and constraints ? Familiarity with modern DevOps, cloud native software development, accessibility and security standards, patterns and best practices ? Interest and ability to pair, mentor and inspire other developers through action ? Capacity to design and implement efficient RESTful APIs and microservices ? Definition of SLOs / SLAs, and design of monitoring thresholds to alert of breach risk ? Experience with technical governance and enforcement of policies and standards ? Experience scaling applications with containers and container orchestration frameworks ? Exposure to leadership or mentorship roles, particularly on a remote development team ? Previously built and deployed 12-factor apps as part of a collaborative project ? Proven track record working with our technology stack: Node, Typescript, React, Terraform, Github Actions, AWS (preferred; not required) ? Interest and ability to pair, mentor and inspire other developers through action ? Experience with technical governance and enforcement of policies and standards ? Definition of SLOs / SLAs, and design of monitoring thresholds to alert of breach risk ? C1 level English; Experience in English-speaking development environments.
