We partner with the business to provide advice and guidance to ensure the protection of our employees and global locations.Partner with the bestThe role involves work responsibilities - acting as the senior lawyer for OFSE Mexico and Central America and assuring Mexico legal and compliance coverage needs "wing to wing".As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for:Acting as the "in-take" lawyer for OFSE legal needs/work coordination in Mexico; including coordinating with Mexico based lawyer(s) to ensure efficient work distribution and timely legal support response/coverage to the Mexico business clients.Participating on Mexico country leadership team, providing counsel, direction, strategy and advice on business/commercial issues (including ensuring BH OFSE Legal/Compliance visibility and objectives are advanced in Mexico).Providing legal advice/support related to BH business relationship with PEMEX; including support on contracting, regulatory and public procurement compliance related to PEMEX and other International Oil Companies in country, such as ENI, FIELDWOOD, OPEX, etc.Supervising and handling the review/negotiation/drafting of various agreements, including those related to customers, vendors, channel partners, NDA's, MOU's.Providing advice on matters of local law/regulations across Mexico and CA, particularly on regulatory, HSE, Security, financial, public procurement laws, labor/employment laws, corporate law, commercial, competition laws and integrity laws (anti-bribery and anti-corruption).Driving Compliance and Integrity program in Mexico and CA working with the BH compliance team/professionals (including assisting in compliance investigations and corrective actions).Working with BH litigation counsel to ensure regional coverage and management of Mexico and CA litigation, including determination of reserves/accruals and reporting thereof.Working with BH corporate entities/governance team to effect efficient regional management of BH Mexico and CA legal entity governance.Working with BH labor counsel to ensure effective management of Mexico related labor, union and employment issues by the Mexico regional legal team supporting closely the BH OFSE Mexico country HR team.Monitoring new legislation and changes to existing legislation which could affect BH OFSE Mexico operations.Managing external law firms in charge of Baker Hughes legal external matters, including fees negotiation, process of securing engagement letters, upload monthly fees into the proper administrative system, update SAP and Legal Tracker for all legal external matters.Creating and managing annual budget for legal external support by working with the OFSE LATAM Managing Counsel.Updating monthly reports and internal systems, for consolidated reports and KPIs for the Legal Department, e.g. Contracts Reviewed, Legal Expenses incurred, Major Matters Updates, etc.Proactively improving legal related processes, legal productivity, simplicity, and standardization (working closely with Mexico/LATAM legal colleagues).Collaborating effectively in a diverse, matrixed organization.Promoting effective teamwork and coverage between the LATAM regional team and BH OFSE "product-company" lawyers.To be successful in this role you will need:Degree from Mexico accredited law school.A minimum of 12 years of Mexico based legal experience in-house or in a law firm, in the (Oil and Gas) sector.Licensed active bar membership in Mexico.Hands-on experience on commercial matters and supporting business leadership teams.Experience in advising Mexico compliance and regulatory matters.Ability to provide creative and compliant solutions while juggling multiple priorities.Ability to mentor, provide day to day guidance to legal department colleagues in Mexico and CA.Strong oral and written communication and leadership skills – both Spanish and English skill-set.Strong commitment to integrity, excellence and professionalism.Vision and sound judgment in providing legal advice and solutions.Ability to work in complex, diverse international environment – and ability to motivate team/employees.Demonstrable computer literacy with specific ability to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other software such as redlining tools.Work in a way that works for youWe recognize that everyone is different and that the way in which people want to work and deliver at their best is different for everyone too.
