**Job Overview**
The Localization Engineer will leverage technical expertise and linguistic knowledge to facilitate seamless localization processes. The l10n engineer will design and implement technical improvements in localization workflows, will oversee automation opportunities for current processes, and will focus on supporting the Ops team on our critical tools. The LE will also be responsible for managing translation resources, monitoring glossaries, translation memories, and machine translation tools to optimize output quality.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Excel the usage of CAT tools and Translation Management Systems (TMS) by working closely with the Ops team to identify automation opportunities that will streamline workflows and operational processes.
- Troubleshoot the Ops and Quality team on tools and localization processes.
- Develop, implement and maintain new operating procedures in response to internal needs and new client requirements.
- Manage the localization projects (websites), by facilitating the communication between client development team and AP Ops team; support the PMs in quoting and localization project handling, ensuring the usage of appropriate file formats and structure.
- Develop and implement strategies for training machine translation engines, optimizing their performance for specific language pairs and content types.
- Act as a TM expert, overseeing the creation, maintenance, and utilization of translation memories and glossaries to enhance translation efficiency and quality.
- Work closely with project managers, translators, and other stakeholders to ensure that localization efforts align with project goals and timelines.
- Stay updated on the latest technological advancements, recommending enhancements to existing setups.
**Skills and Qualifications**
- Experience: +5 years of experience in localization engineering or a related field, with a strong understanding of localization processes and tools.
- Technical skills: Extensive knowledge of CAT tools (e.g., XTM, SDL Trados, MemoQ) and TMS platforms (XTRF is a must), along with a solid understanding of web technologies and localization engineering challenges.
Advanced knowledge of machine translation engines.
- Ability to run simple macros
- Ability to write RegEx rules
- Ability to write prompts for generative AI
- Analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to analyze and troubleshoot localization issues, ensuring high-quality outcomes. Ability to document and maintain technical instructions, guides, and best practices.
- Communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
