We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of
**Senior Manager Cost Management**
**Role purpose**:
Global Finance is integral to HSBC's purpose and strategy, playing a valued role in managing costs and deploying capital in the most effective way.
Our global team of Finance professionals partner with the business to provide trusted insights and forward looking analysis, accuracy, efficiency and control to frame and influence business decisions.
In the Strategic Cost Management (SCM) function we provide accurate, relevant and effective management information (MI), help stakeholders understand tactical and strategic options, make tangible recommendations, and provide analysis to influence and support business decisions.
Business partnering is a crucial element of what we do within SCM.
The Senior Manager Cost Management will be responsible for oversight of indirect and intercompany expenses for the Americas.
Together with the Head of Strategic Cost Management, Americas, this role will ensure transparency of Group, DBS, and Function costs to lines of business.
Intercompany (ICO) charges are a substantial element of the Americas cost base.
The role holder will be involved in reporting of indirect expenses (eg.
from Function to GB) to improve transparency for our customers.
The role holder will also have significant exposure to senior management within Americas markets, regional Finance and Global ServCo management; as such, the jobholder will require a level of gravitas and credibility.
The role also includes supporting ICO accounting, invoicing, aged debt management and ICO breaks management.
**Main activities**:
- Investigating and understanding inbound charges to the Americas from Group, including challenge where required
- Investigating and understanding allocations of DBS and functions' expenses to lines of business across the Americas, including challenge where required
- Owning the process to update metric keys used to allocate indirect expenses
- Understanding and challenging the metrics used for Attributed and Allocated expenses where they may need to be changed for the Americas region
- Investigating and understanding intra-Americas allocations, both between countries but also between legal entities within one country
- Improving transparency through use of standard dashboards where available
- Driving efficiency / improvement within the ICO process along with ensuring visibility/transparency of charges to entities.
Work with the Global Business and Functions COO and Finance teams to ensure clear articulation of services, charge basis and resolve issues and concerns.
- Leading the preparation of monthly commentary, forecast and FRP commentary for entity OpCos, ManCos, cost forums and stakeholders
- Reviewing and approving intercompany invoices
- Driving standardization of process, where required, across the region
- Supporting Transfer Pricing process including assessment of markup against benchmarks
- Involvement in special projects related to indirects and intercompany as required
Requirements
**Knowledge & Experience**
- Experience operating in a complex financial services organization (banking preferred)
- Execution orientated: proactive escalation of issues whilst maintaining solution-focused and flexible approach
- Experience interacting with senior stakeholders with varying degrees of financial literacy
- Agile, change mindset, dynamic and inquisitive / curious approach to work
- Sound judgment, decision making and problem-solving abilities
- Strong influencing, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution abilities
