BS/BA required.
- At least 12 years of relevant public policy experience and a keen working understanding of the Mexican federal/congressional policymaking process and government relations.
- The ability to effectively communicate and advocate in Spanish and English, in writing and orally.
- An ability and desire to travel is required.
The Senior Manager for Federal Political Affairs, Public Policy will advocate on key public policy issues with the federal government in Mexico. They will develop and execute strategies on priority policy issues to support our business, customers, and employees in Mexico.
The Senior Manager will work closely with other public policy teams, Legal, PR and the relevant business units to ensure alignment with business priorities and goals, and will be responsible for effectively educating federal policymakers on these issues. The Senior Manager will also be responsible for leading engagements with trade associations, think tanks, advocacy groups, and other relevant external stakeholders.
The Senior Manager will monitor and report relevant legislative and regulatory activity in Mexico, develop positioning and mitigation/engagement strategies, and coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives in concert with business objectives. As appropriate, the Senior Manager will facilitate high-level meetings for executives and business leaders with key policymakers and other relevant stakeholders in the state.
This position will be based in Mexico City, Mexico. The Senior Manager will be willing to travel domestically and internationally.
- JD or Advanced Degree preferred.
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in government or representing a large, complex company or association.
- Demonstrated ability to be both a substantive issue expert and a manager of complex political relationships.
- Experience working with public policy stakeholders and experience managing multiple policy issues.
- Demonstrated ability to understand how technical language in legislative and regulatory proposals could affect corporate operations, identify business implications, and synthesize policy documents for internal customers.
- Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others is required. Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment/decision-making skills, and political acumen.
- Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills; demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate and political levels.
