.**About our group**:An opportunity exists within Seagate to join the Manufacturing Process Development team who are responsible for the provision of underlying process technology and infrastructure for all aspects of our Manufacturing Process operations.The position is suitable for a self-motivated individual who is happy working in a fast-moving development & operations environment. An attitude of "continuous improvement" and a desire to create a high-quality product are also requirements.**About the role - you will**:- Assume responsibility for the products after transition from design to volume production and coordinate with other departments to analyze and resolve problems while ensuring production schedules are followed.- Be involved in the product's life cycle from the very outset of reviewing designs to releasing the final process into our Manufacturing Integration and Test Facility- Assess and manage any underlying operational issues which could impact product quality or process capacity- Provide leadership and training to lower-level engineers and technicians- Conduct failure analysis of defective product to root cause to identify and ensure corrective actions are implemented- Identify defective modes across the FA population and communicate to appropriate engineering functions.- Communicate issues back to the vendors and customers via weekly status calls and to Senior Management- Propose changes to the current practices to ensure that improvements are implemented- Assist with the engineering functions and business support groups to prioritize failure analysis work.- Evaluate and implement product design and component changes to improve product performance and reduce overall costs.**About you**:- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, but with a high degree of self-motivation.- The ability to prioritize and coordinate activities while working under pressure to meet strict deadlines.**Your experience includes**:- An intermedium level of competency in Python programming, such as might be obtained by experience in Unix/Linux system programming, device driver, hardware control or embedded environments.- Familiarity with Unix/Linux architecture, system programming and configuration, to include kernel interfaces, device drivers, storage management and networking. It would be helpful if this skill area related specifically to Linux and/or SCO Open Server.- Competence in Unix/Linux system use, administration, and programming, including familiarity with standard Unix environment development tools.- A background in systems hardware and software integration testing, preferably with Storage Systems technologies using FCAL, SCSI and Ethernet interfaces
