About the Role

The Software Engineer will function as a software developer responsible for technical design, coding, Developer testing and cross-functional coordination with teams in different regions around the globe. They will be responsible for the development and maintenance of Tuner features on Android-based Head Units. The Software Engineer will develop and own radio features for cutting-edge digital cockpit systems based on the Android platform.

Your Team

This position will not have any direct reports. However, providing technical leadership and mentoring to less experienced engineers, interns, and co-ops is required.

What You Will Do
- Responsible for the End To End solution architecture and defining the integration strategy, that meets the requirements specified by the customer.
- Analyze customer and internal requirements and specifications and translates these into software designs with the proper SW domain responsible team members
- Support the implementation and validation of the system.
- Perform root cause analysis of complex warranty and 0km items in support of post-launch activity.
- Analyze existing embedded software to add features, make modifications, fix bugs, and/or port to different platforms or different Android pastries.
- Participate in internal and customer-driven design reviews throughout the program.
- Communicate with peers inside the Harman group to coordinate software development.
- Identifies product requirements or performance issues. Works with the software team leader to negotiate a resolution.
- Report status of software to the leadership team
- Communicates openly and organizes technical discussions as needed
- Looks for win-win solutions when resolving conflicts or removing obstacles.

What You Need
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- Development and integration experience in Tuner Broadcast and Satellite Radio solutions (AM/FM/HD/DAB/SXM) for the automotive environment
- Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software development.
- Familiarity with embedded software development or testing.
- Software development Experience with C/C++/Java
- Understanding of Android and LINUX
- Self-motivated, curious to learn, and experience in creating effective design.
- Knowledge of Tuner Technologies concepts (AM/FM/DAB/SXM/DTV/DMB/HD, etc.)
- Experience with Android Radio/Audio framework and core radio features
- Experience in software development processes using CMMI or ASPICE models.

What is Nice to Have
- Good understanding of Tuner HW Architectures and ability to draw up the implications of HW change to SW Architectures
- Worked in complete Software Development Lifecycle
- Ability to coordinate with other functional groups, clients, and stakeholders.
- Represent the team in the status meetings
- Tuner Application, middleware development knowledge Experience developing and debugging software in a real-time, embedded, multiprocessor, multi-interface environment.
