Within BSO, the Tax Operations and Compliance team is responsible for meeting the global tax and statutory compliance requirements and the GL team is responsible for the maintenance of the general ledger and preparation of the consolidation reports.
The department balances a mix of internal resources and third parties to efficiently meet global compliance requirements. The department focuses on transparent and accurate status reporting, maintaining a strong internal control framework, using technology and standard processes to meet its operational targets and satisfy partners, GSTC (Global Strategic Tax & Customs).
The Tax Operations & Compliance Specialist - Planet Taxes, directly supports the LEGO Group drive and improve tax compliance processes and maintain the status of the world's most reputable company focusing on the Extended Producer Responsibilities, a practice and a policy approach in which producers take responsibility for management of the disposal of products they produce once those products are designated as no longer useful by consumers.
**Core Responsibilities**:
- Preparation of data relevant for Environmental Fees declarations and returns to be sent to third party service provider.
- Preparation of non-standardized data requests coming from the business and GSTC regarding Planet Tax requirements.
- Perform monthly, quarterly and annual tax/fee workbooks.
- Perform tax payments.
- Contribute to tax issue log through documenting tax incident.
- Ensure proper documentation practices are followed and supporting files are "audit ready".
- Reconciling tax payments vs accounting, Validating output and identifying of high risk transactions through analysis.
**Do you have what it takes?**:
- Bachelors in accounting or finance, CPA
- Accounting / Tax Certifications
- 2+ years' experience of relevant tax experience.
- Ability to work independently to drive successful completion of projects, compliance objectives, and identification of process improvements.
- Ability to collaborate globally with internal partners, global third-party service providers, and compliance bodies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
