The Director of Automation Engineering will drive the planning, vision, and execution of the automation strategy across factories in Mexico. Partnering with key stakeholders, this Automation expert will manage and improve current processes to support a dynamic organization. Manages the global automation department, and prioritizes the utilization of human capital and technical resources for the various automation projects. Evaluate automation opportunities in the various manufacturing plants and provide guidance for decision-making based on the feasibility of automation projects. Responsible for the design, development, integration, installation, validation, and release to production of all automation.
**JOB DUTIES**:
- Scale-up automation team at Juarez to support automation efforts across factories in Mexico.
- Evaluate current manufacturing practices and identify automation opportunities at Chihuahua, Tijuana, and Juarez facilities.
- Design production layouts and processes that increase productivity, eliminate wastefulness, and reduce costs while maintaining quality standards.
- Mentor and coach site leaders for them to be self-sufficient in identifying and executing automation projects.
- Partner cross-functionally with key stakeholders within the design, quality, supply chain, and operations to drive automation efforts.
- Leads, guides, develops, and enhances the technical and managerial skills of all automation personnel.
- Prepares automation strategy reports for top management for key capital funding decision-making.
- Actively seeks out opportunities to automate manual assembly operations, evaluates opportunities, and targets them based on business priorities.
- Determines the training needs of the team members to ensure the development of required functional and interpersonal competencies such as communication, leadership, teamwork, etc.
- Responsible for the timely management, monitoring, and progress of the automation program.
- Teams with the different departments in the various manufacturing plants and prioritizes the different automation needs of the business.
- Responsible for the overall capital budget for automation.
- Results relevant to the system and support to promote awareness.
- Actively participates in the 6S Program, which is a critical business objective, ensuring compliance with the program regulations and carrying out the activities that are required as an Auditor, Coordinator, Leader, or member of the committee.
- Actively participates in the Safety and Environmental Systems, ensuring compliance with the system requirements and carrying out the activities in which it is involved.
- Performs work assignments in a safe, efficient, and ethical manner.
- Develops other activities assigned by management to support business operations.
- Ensure the effectiveness of the quality management system and the availability of the resources necessary to achieve it.
- Conduct in accordance with the guidelines of the quality policy and ensure that it is communicated and understood at all levels.
- Define quality objectives, communicate them to all applicable levels, and actively participate in achieving them.
**YOU MUST HAVE**:
- Degree in Engineering or related field
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, Maintenance and Automation
- Minimum 5 years of experience with a direct focus on implementation and management of Automation
- English and Spanish proficiency
- Based in El paso Tx or Juarez City
