About the Role The CoCounsel engineering team at Thomson Reuters is seeking a Backend Engineer to help grow CoCounsel, our state-of-the-art AI legal assistant. As a Backend Engineer, you'll expand the capabilities of our chat service, a user-facing LLM-powered hub that understands and routes to all of CoCounsel's skills. You'll collaborate with those skills' teams to identify implementation patterns and developer pain points, and address them with improvements to our skill framework. Our ideal candidate is curious and sympathetic with a keen eye for simplicity.
Develop CoCounsel's backend services to support customer-facing applicationsIdentify skill implementation patterns and developer pain pointsDevelop reusable solutions for those patterns and alleviate those pain pointsConnect CoCounsel's applications/AI Assistant service to skills using simple, extensible APIsAbout You 5+ years professional software engineering experienceYou are proficient in Python, with recent professional experience in a production-level software engineering environmentYou are familiar with type systemsYou are familiar with HTTP APIs, especially RESTYou have an eye for simple, pragmatic API designLow ego, intelligent, sympathetic and collaborativeUnderstands that tech is a means to an end, particularly for building customer-facing productsCan communicate technical topics to non-technical audiencesNice to haves: Experience with SQL, Docker, Statically typed language (Java, C++ or Scala) & GCP or other cloud services like AWSTo apply, please upload your updated resume in English.
