Summary: VES is looking for a Sr. Buyerto join our team in our Matamoros,Tamaulipas location. This person will coordinate activities related to the procurement of goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies and consumables. Initiates purchase requisitions in a timely manner and at the lowest possible cost, taking into account quality and reliability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Identifies, contacts and negotiates with suppliers to obtain information on raw materials, products or services, such as prices, availability, stock, supply agreements and delivery schedules, in order to meet service needs and sales forecasts. Maintains working relationships with suppliers on all current and potential future business.Establishes and maintains relationships with suppliers through effective communication. Maintains good relationships with suppliers by holding regular meetings.Recommends alternatives to save costs or improve performance.Prepares purchase orders for raw materials, products or services. Ensures that all goods and services ordered are procured with clear instructions on necessary documentation and conformance to required specifications. Pays close attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of all purchase orders.Maintains procurement metrics such as items or services purchased, cost, delivery, product quality or performance.Expedites delivery of goods to completion according to requirements and updates ERP system.Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control, users, suppliers and others to determine.Discusses price differences with appropriate parties and resolves in a timely manner.Provides input and support for the development of new products, processes or suppliers.Assists the purchasing team and other divisions by informing them of any supply issues affecting business operations. Assists in reducing procurement costs by analyzing costs and proposing cost reduction measures.Provides liaison services between suppliers and departments regarding order status, procurement procedures and problem resolution; researches sources of supply; advises departments on cost effective alternatives.Collaborates with others in the purchasing function to identify opportunities for continuous and business improvement.May lead, mentor and train employees/students, interns and/or volunteers performing related work.May lead purchasing process improvement projects.Performs other duties and participates in special projects as assigned.Education and/or Experience: 5 years of purchasing experience.Professional career and/or experienceExcel.Bilingual (conversational English and Spanish).SAP experience preferred but not essential.Thank you for your interest in a career with Varel Energy Solutions.
