Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware, and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data, and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments, and individuals for their own use.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelops, administers, and implements environmental programs in accordance with governmental requirements.Monitors pollution prevention activities, compliance, and auditing efforts.Conducts studies and prepares environmental impact reports for plant processes and permit changes.Reviews and analyzes environmental documents issued by various regulatory agencies.Determines impact on company operations and communicates data to appropriate engineering personnel for use in making engineering decisions.May communicate compliance strategies and requirements.Evaluates proposed regulations to determine financial, industrial, public, and environmental impact.Interacts with federal, state, and local regulators to resolve compliance issues; establishes permit requirements and assists in EPA, state, and local regulatory audits.Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and processes to meet goals outlined.Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. Work is reviewed by management to measure meeting of objectives.Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees.Recommends changes to unit or sub-unit policies.Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, outside customers, and functional peer groups at management levels.Provides leadership for the development and implementation of strategic objectives to manage and control occupational hygiene and safety risks.Provides value-added services and is accountable for achieving compliance with the Corning safety policy and for the implementation of the Corning safety strategy improvement initiatives.Analyzes processes and situations to create information and identify opportunities for positive change and improvement.Develops proactive prevention systems for anticipating and responding to events. Provides continued development on Occupational Hygiene safety issues.Provides expertise, advice, information, and tools relating to effective hygiene and safety management.Sets up processes to conduct suitable and sufficient risk assessments to reduce risk and identify process improvements.Facilitates implementation of a mature safety and health management system. Provides safety training.May perform, especially in staff or professional groups, ongoing operational tasks of organizational units.Experiences/Education - Required5 years of experience as EHS Engineer.Knowledge of Mexican safety and hygiene regulations. Understanding OSHA standards.Business understanding and involvement.Solid understanding and experience to drive safety or EHS internal and external audits.Experience managing and leading projects.Able to analyze data and create action plans with solid results.Experience setting and managing department objectives.Able to interact at all levels.Analytic and negotiation skills.Bilingual (English and Spanish).Corning Puts YOU First!
