Job Overview The Sr. Estimator plays an essential function in the company and is responsible for accurately estimating the total costs associated with a project. This position works closely with consultants, contractors, accountants, and operations personnel to provide the most accurate and comprehensive financial and budget analysis. In addition, the Sr. Estimator in charge of determining the projected time frame needed to complete a project which includes critical factors such as labor needs, materials, budgets, and any potential setbacks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare detailed conceptual budgets from pre-construction, concept design, schematic design, and design development documentsPerform detailed take-offs of all tradeInitiate and manage entire bid process (CM and GC) inclusive of preparation of detailed bid packages and assure accurate and proper submissions/proposals by all subcontractorsAccurately level all subcontractor bids and review to select the most cost-effective optionReview documentation, meet with clients, and inspect the construction site to fully understand what work is requiredCollect all pertinent documents including property plans, technical drawings, and project specificationsPerform risk assessments to account for potential deviations from the project planMaintain relationships with key vendors and subcontractorsInitiate prequalification process for all trade partnersCoach and mentor Estimators and Jr. EstimatorsCollaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and subcontractors to understand and incorporate project objectives, schedules, permits, costs, etc.Communicate regularly with field team on deliverables and procurement schedulesOther duties as assignedQualifications Bachelors' Degree in Construction Management or related field10+ years' experience in budgeting commercial interiors, retail, core and shell as well as out of the ground construction projectsAviation estimating experience a plusProficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)Proficient with On-Screen Takeoff or other relevant applicationsProficient with accounting and project management conceptsExcellent time management and organizational skills Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skillsHigh level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential/proprietary informationDemonstrate proficiency in reading commercial construction plans and specificationsAbility to work well under pressure of bid deadlinesAbility to multi-task while focusing on quality, accuracy, and attention to detailAbility to value engineer to best meet the goals of the projectAbility to work with cross functional teams Holt Construction Corp. is an equal opportunity employer.
