FUNCTIONS Transmission & Distribution SENIOR ESTIMATORThe Senior Estimator will be responsible for performing Class 3, 4 and 5 estimates, leading anddeveloping EPC and bid check estimates and bids for Transmission & Distribution projects. This positionwill develop accurate bottoms up estimates in a credible and professional manner while minimizing riskto the company.JOB DUTIES• Develop factored and bottoms up Class 5, 4 and 3 (conceptual, feasibility and budgetauthorization) estimates for transmission and distribution projects (lines and stations)• Lead estimating strategy and implementation efforts.• Develop estimate schedules to manage workload and ensure timely completion of estimates• Review RFP and engineering documents for gaps and overlaps in scope of work• Responsible for detail documentation of quantity take offs and constructability analysis• Responsible for the accuracy and validity of estimate clarifications and assumptions• Review and approve project summary schedules for validity.• Develop risk registers and assist risk review process.• Review commercial terms and conditions and address risk issues.• Responsible for compliance with estimating methodology ensuring quality estimates areproduced.• Lead project team review for estimating quantities and scope of project.• Responsible for reviewing and incorporating quotes on bonds and insurance.• Review and approve small and disadvantaged business solicitation and evaluations.• Lead subcontractor pre-qualification, solicitation and bid reviews.• Review and verify subcontractor bid packages before being transmitted for quotes.• Responsible for reviewing and incorporating specialty and standard equipment and materialpricing.• Estimate general conditions, indirect costs and review with project management team• Responsible for the review of final estimate and presentation to management• Present the estimate to internal and external clients.• Make final recommendations as to fee, contingency and escalation.• Provide man hour quotes for required estimating effort and review with Section Manager• Verify and approve estimates for joint venture reviews.• Review and validate value engineering items, alternates and options.• Lead estimating teams for completion of pre-construction services.• Responsible for updating cost history and data base management.• Train and mentor staff.• All other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field. Applicableexperience may be substituted for the degree requirement.• 7 years of experience with transmission and distribution EPC or construction contractorsestimating or in the field• 4 years of estimating experience• Must have extensive knowledge and experience developing estimates and bidding T&Dconstruction work• Must be very familiar with factors that affect work productivity, be able to identify them andappropriately incorporate them into cost estimates• Ability to work independently or in groups, think creatively and analytically, and make quick andsound decisions• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Proficient with Microsoft Office and in particular Excel.• May be required to obtain an OSHA 10 hour safety certification Apply now Looking for the best qualified professionals?
