About the role Carrier is seeking a highly motivated Embedded Systems/Software Manager to lead a team of engineers responsible for developing embedded solutions that drive Carrier HVAC equipment controls. We are seeking a candidate that is excited by the prospect of working with our team to enhance current products and define future intelligent embedded control systems.
The ideal candidate is excited by embedded development, new connected technologies, and the limitless possibilities of the IoT domain. You will be an integral leader in developing and integrating our products into the Connected Home. You will work closely with our equipment Platform Teams and Marketing organization to define and execute product and technology roadmaps.
Key Responsibilities: Lead a team (10-15) of systems and software engineers in the development of embedded products that control residential HVAC equipment.Participate with Carrier's Marketing organization to help define the technology and product roadmaps for future HVAC equipment controls.Actively participate in the project planning process (e.g. estimates for project plan tasks, resources, completion time, capital requirements, risks, expenses, etc.).Understand the software development life cycle and processes using model-based development.Lead product development governance reviews.Lead continuous improvement activities relative to software development and systems methodologies.Work effectively with various engineering functions/disciplines; systems, hardware, validation/reliability, and manufacturing.Balance the responsibilities of sustaining and new product development projects.Participate in risk identification reviews.Conduct ongoing appraisals/mentoring of direct reports.LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for multiple projects.Oversight of 10-15 direct reports.Makes significant contributions to their team by applying their knowledge of the discipline.Works with limited guidance.Requirements As a minimum you must have:
A minimum of 10+ years prior relevant experience in Embedded Systems.Experience working or managing Agile development.Experience developing firmware with C & C++ programming languages.Experience with various connectivity protocols (WiFi, Bluetooth, Z-Wave, Zigbee, Thread, etc.).Experience interacting with internal/external customers.RTOS or Linux experience.Experience with software architecture and design patterns.Experience with 8, 16, or 32 microcontrollers.Experience with configuration/change management systems such as Rational Team Concert.Experience with IBM DOORS NG or other requirements management tools.Familiarity with AWS or Azure DevOps.Organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities.Proven ability to implement continuous improvements and standardize processes.Experience with data science/product analytics (preferred).Previous leadership/managerial experience (preferred).Experience with ARM Microcontrollers (preferred).Model Based Development using Matlab/State Flow (preferred).(HVAC) System Design Experience (preferred).Benefits Enjoy your best years with our retirement savings plan.Have peace of mind and body with our health insurance.Make yourself a priority with flexible schedules, parental leave, and our holiday purchase scheme.Drive forward your career through professional development opportunities.Achieve your personal goals with our Employee Assistance Programme.Our commitment to you Our greatest assets are the expertise, creativity, and passion of our employees.
